This is why Billy Davies was our perfect manager.

You'd get a full season worth of fun, huge value for money at home for being an ST holder, and you were guaranteed to get it all again the following season too.

Penny seems to be finally dropping after 10+ years with some of you! 😁 👑

As much as I hate what football is at this top level I want us to be in the highest league possible. The longer we are in it the more likely we can establish ourselves. We have a core of good players and with a bit of a tweak and a bit of luck this season we could have been mid table by now.

It will also piss of a fair lot of fans like Derby, Huddersfield etc.. for us to stay up so let’s do it!!

Yeah want us to stay up because we have underperformed compared to the trajectory of our squad. My view is that the off field, mass recruitment issues and ffp have caused that

I like all of our players and don't think any have really downed tools so I am totally with the team.

Between that and an actual enjoyable atmosphere at the ground over last 2 years or so, it makes me want to stay up.

I've seen a fair few posts from people who have understandably grown sick and tired of our time in the Premier League, saying that a return to Championship football would be welcome. No VAR, more games, and a chance of getting a ticket to watch us actually win a few bands does sound pretty tempting.

However, the question needs to be asked of 'what then'? Would those same people be happy to just stay in the Championship for the foreseeable future, bobbling around in mid table? Would they actually not want to see us storm the league/sneak the playoffs and gain promotion, knowing another season of off-field bullshit and preying for 17th place awaits?

If you're actually in the camp of looking forward to a return to the Championship, what does longer term success look like to you?

"What does success look like" - Wrong question for me. I don't really care about success, it's relative and flexible isn't it? 2 years ago success was getting out of the Championship, now for most of our fans it's breaking mid-table and pushing top six. We go down and success metric will change. I find it easier to look at the pros and cons of PL and Championship before deciding whether I'm comfortable with relegation.

Premier League Pros:
1) Football is undeniably better quality.
2) Games mean more.
3) Away games in bigger cities, make for better away days.

Premier League cons:
1) VAR.
2) Getting beat most weeks.
3) Games rescheduled constantly for TV audiences
4) Club feel justified in whacking up prices on everything.

Championship Pros:
1) Probably will be winning most of the time.
2) Chance to celebrate at end of season if we go-up.
3) Prospective Wembley trip if we end up in play-offs.
4) Cheaper tickets (or more likely, no more price rises)
5) No VAR (for now)
6) More games to go to.
7) More Saturday 3PM KOs.

Championship cons:
1) Rotherham and Plymouth away days.
2) Derby rivalry rekindled (snore)
3) Football will be worse quality
4) Games won't matter as much as our short term ambition is just to reinstate our PL status
5) Real risk that our expenditure in the PL can't be serviced by Championship revenue so we have to firesale players and we get mired in this league (or worse) for another extended period.

Overall it's a mixed bag, so on that basis I don't really care which league were in.

I don't think 'the future' is worth thinking about - unless their is a seismic change in the current FFP rules.
Joining the ever-growing ranks of parachute payment yo-yo clubs is probably our best future, or more likely a return to mid-table Championship mediocrity and a new manager every 6 months or so.
My ambitions would be more centered around some of the things we were promised, but haven't been delivered - improved club infrastructure and professionalism off the field, which gives us a more stable base to sustainably build a future - but this won't happen under the current ownership.

That's a great question, and one I'm struggling with. I spent most of Sunday afternoon and evening wondering about my relationship with Forest and football. I actually wouldn't mind going back to the Championship, getting tickets for away games at Bristol City, Plymouth, Millwall et al won't be as challenging as it is in the Premier League, and I enjoy those away days with my son more than home matches.

But then the question is: what is the point? Surely we all want Forest to play at as high a level as possible? So do we hope that when we next come back things are different? Cos they sure as hell won't be. Or do I give up and spend more time and money watching Maidenhead United, for whom a great season is staying up in the National League despite all but one team having higher budgets then them?

Forest has been a massive part of my life for over forty years but this season has drained me. You watch a match and wonder when the ref will screw us over, not when the opposition will provide a moment of magic to beat us. The next two home matches see some of the best English talent in generations: Foden and Palmer, let's hope the WFCG gets to enjoy them playing as opposed a to a referee being centre stage again. Oh, and Forest get points at the same time.

I don't enjoy being in the Premier League and enjoy The Championship a lot more. But I'm in a quandary. I want Forest to be a very good Championship club and be a success. But with that comes promotion, and that only results in another season like this in the Premier League fighting against corruption and the odd win in five matches, or sometimes ten. Currently I just feel a bit numb about football in general.

I always saw our promotion to the PL as early and that it would lead to a yoyo period of several seasons. The only thing I want from that is to be constantly stronger and better prepared until the bouncing stops solidly in the PL.
But I really don't want to exchange places with Leicester this season.

I will be so depleted if we go down after 23 years dreaming of a return.
VAR is shit and the struggle to get tickets a pain, but I have been fortunate enough to get tickets to some of these games and I want more of it.

We had a real opportunity to solidify ourselves in the top flight this season and work to a long term plan to push us on - this was all thrown away by an owner who didn’t have the metal to stick by the manager who got us here in the first place - I guess he didn’t have the belief the manager had the capability to improve himself as a manager and turn our fortunes around this season.

We now find ourselves in an all so predictable situation and the thought of a return to the championship (and for quite possibly another 23 years) fills me with dread.

For me, we were in the early stages of our journey returning to greatness - and that we so flippantly threw it all away is what hurts the most.

The Championship felt like an eternal promise of jam tomorrow. The Premier League may be jam today, but it turns out it is rancid, mouldy goop in nice packaging and you're only allowed one of those little hotel jars because the big boys have priority hoarding on the big jars.

I'd still prefer to stay up, but I don't think I care as much as I should if we do go down. This season has been a miserable farce on the pitch, off the pitch, both from the club and the league and refs. If we stay up and next year is like this year, then I think I'd rather be in the Championship.

Yeah lets get relegated and moan after every match how we would have scored more if we had VAR :D

When you weight up the pros and cons of both leagues, I can't see why anyone would want to return to Middlesborough The Championship
If we do get relegated, anyone... ANYONE who says "we should have VAR" should be given an instant life time ban.
It is a major attraction of the Championship... no VAR.
(However, it will probably have VAR within 3 seasons - although who is going to fund the cost of installing it at the likes of Plymouth, Mansfield etc, (should they get promotion) - remains an unanswered question.

I’ve followed Forest long enough to understand ambition is often not the only ingredient to be successful, you need everyone pulling in the right direction. Honestly I think despite the many changes in personal and new manager there’s enough actual quality to have a really good season whatever league we play in next. So if I can grab me hands on a season ticket I’d be delighted… there, I’m one those waiting with family to grab any that aren’t renewed.

The rhetoric from the EPL Media and Pm whatever the f*** it calls itself has shown a level of corruption so deep that if clubs don’t joint Forest in the call for change, they get exactly what they deserve next season..

If we are relegated, who will be chosen as next season's VAR whipping boys?
And how will the selection be made?
In the interests of openness and fairness, the PGMOL need to publicise the rules and then name the preferred candidate (i hope it's Chelsea... I don't like Chelsea).
