By the way, the banner says:

„I’ll get a sick-note - I continue stealing one note after another“

(It’s one of many anti-DFB rants, from supporters who are critical of the ruling-body‘s seemingly endless appetite for cash, whilst ignoring the concerns of supporters).
They spent the first 19 minutes whistling any time RB Leipzig touched the ball which was deafening. I guessed as they were formed in 1900 that was the moment they started singing. Great displays throughout the game and clapped and sung the team off even after losing.

Yeah, taking the proverbial out of Leipzig is a hobby in the Bundesliga, such is their trashy reputation as little more than a marketing exercise for their primary sponsor.

There’s also a lot of simmering hatred for how that club have trampled on the „50+1“ rule - Leipzig has members, absolutely. But there’s only twenty of them, and they’re all employees - either directly or indirectly - of Red Bull.

When you consider the memberships of other BuLi clubs (Bayern, apparently now 293.000, the VfB almost 90.000, Schalke 160.000, Dortmund 157.000, Köln 123.000 and of course Die Fohlen who have 94.000) it sees them accused of paying mere lip-service to „50+1“.

And then they wonder why people hate them.

The Dom is right across the street from the Köln central station, which itself was heavily bombed.

You literally cannot miss it; although somehow, the allies did!

I'm flying over such a majestic building I don't touch it if I can avoid it.

Just want to say a massive thanks to Strummer for recommending a lot of places in Koln to visit. We ended up on this stag do with Borussia Monchengladbach vs RB Leipzig and it was absolutely incredible. The Germans are on another level for their passion and support which is totally different to what we have here in England. The beer, food and culture is fantastic. I would reccommend anyone who is possibly thinking about it, just jump and go for it. The 14 of us who traveled to watch "Die Fohlen" are now fans for life. We're going back again to watch Monchengladbach vs Wolfsburg in November. Some pics from when we were there. Again, thanks Strummer for the recommendations!
Me and my mates had a 2 hour discussion about this kind of thing last night, how weird

Typically 5/6 weeks ahead - but of course it’s going to be either Friday, Saturday or Sunday, either way.

It’s the match-weekend of May 3rd-5th, as yet, so I would guess mid-end of March-ish, the league will set the fixtures.

The way that Die Geißböcke have started the campaign, that might be a „must win“ for them!

I would suggest, that if you „do“ X/Twitter, follow @Bundesliga_EN on there, as the fixture announcements will be publicised (that’s the English-Language version).
That's great, thanks for the info Strummer.

We're thinking of flying into Koln on a Thursday, having a couple of days there, then taking the ICE and having a few days in Frankfurt returning mid week. Hopefully the game doesn't get moved to Sunday as that's when we'd planned to travel

As you probably know, there are two matches on a Sunday normally, unless a side has played in European competition on the Thursday, in which case there are sometimes three, to give the team playing Europe an extra days‘ rest.

But at the moment I’m not sure of the fixture dates for the European competitions (as to whether there are matches the week before that weekend).

Edit: just an afterthought - May 1st is a public holiday here, so flights closer to that day might be more expensive (so check that where possible).

Mainz relegation is going to hit like f***ing CRACK.
They aren’t down yet, and Bo Svensson is an excellent coach.

This could be the year that catches up with Augsburg, who’ve been circling the drain for years, but somehow manage to pull out a survival epic, every season.

Yeah, I posted this in preseason in the „European Football..“ thread.

It’s a very decent gesture, and very popular.

Proper club, Die Flingeraner.

Just been reading about it, normally get 30000 in a 54000 stadium, great gesture by the club and been based in Düsseldorf with my love of Auf Wiedersehen I think I might start looking out for em, be interesting to see the overall effect.

Hello, I am, once again, here to ask a stupid question about Koln tickets

The game I want to go to has been confirmed as kicking off at 5:30 on the Saturday. Tickets go on sale next week. If anyone's been before could they tell me what membership I need to book tickets next week 😂 I'm so confused

I’ll have a look when I get home and see what I can see. Just out for some food with my daughter as it’s her birthday today! 😂

Ok then! I am guessing this is the game against SC Freiburg?

You’ll need to have registered with Effzeh, but currently they are selling only to „20+ Members“ until next Monday (March 25th) and then from Tuesday March 26th, at 0900 (UK Time) they start a sale for ordinary members.

Membership is the paid membership, so presumably if you’re not a member, they’ll have another sale period after this member-only sale.

You’ll need to check their website and see next week when they announce the sale after the „member“ sale.

It’s interesting, but the day tickets („Tageskarte“) are limited to just over 15.000 as Die Geißböcke have 25.5k season ticket holders („Dauerkarte“) then 10% is reserved for away fans (so that’s another 5k) and then there are 3.7k reserved for hospitality and commercial partners.

So, TL;DR - if you’re not a paid-member, you’ll need to keep an eye out next week to see when you can try and buy day tickets.

They also note that some partner and hospitality tickets are returned, and some of the away tickets (if the visiting side doesn’t take up their full allocation) and those are resold.

I'm thinking of joining the FC thing, just for peace of mind. It's not that much extra over the peace of mind of getting a ticket in a decent place. It does mean I get a vote on how they run the club I think? Not bad for 60€! 😂

Appreciate you looking, especially today. Thanks mate.

It does indeed! When you are a Mitglieder, you get to vote on the running of the club and to elect much of its board of management.

It is also then allowing you to say that you own part of the club, because, well, you do.
