Gareth Frank Bale

Any Time Now

Very unlikely that Bale would be interested in a move to us and I highly doubt we're interested in a move for him. No doubt about his quality but with his age and wage demands you'd have to convince him to sign a pay as you play contract which is difficult

He's offered himself to Getafe apparently, so he can stay in Madrid. Coward, what's Madrid got that Nottingham doesn't!

How does anyone actually know he's a big time Charlie?

If there was any chance we could get him it's well worth a conversation. He's a match winner, on a free, and his signature would spark a bigger interest in Forest still, helping us get more games on Sky, more fans from abroad etc.

The biggest obstacle would be ensuring squad dynamics weren't impacted: specifically if Bale was on ~£100k a week, it might piss off the rest of our squad who were earning a third of that.

I really dislike Bale, I think he has took the piss of RM for years and years now.

But there is that other side to him where at Wales he has took it upon himself to carry a small nation and be the main man there in a similar role as to what he would have here.

I understand the plan and targeting certain players, but if it's seriously on the table I can't believe people are turning their noses up at a player like Bale.

Are there any golf courts in Nottingham? If not you don't have a chance

If it were reasonable wages and he trained than Id have no problem with it. The signing in principle is good but it would have to be done in such a way that it wont upset the team equilibrium which may not be possible.

I know Johnson would relish playing with him in a 3-5-2 before a world cup its perfect for him.

He'll follow the money for his last big pay day and it won't be us throwing it at him.

How do fans ever know, yet they always come out with stuff like that. Grabban was lazy, didn't care, had a bad attitude because he doesn't show his emotions on the pitch like Worral because he's just a reserved guy.

How RM treated him was equally bad, was booed when he came on even though he won them multiple champions leagues, they prevented him leaving one season then did t play him.

They were equally as bad as each other.

If he does want to come, to get fit for the world cup then why not but wouldn't want him if his gonna break the wage structure or cause disharmony in the dressing room. A sit down with Cooper and dane to make sure everyone on the same wave length

Don't think he needs the money. He can keep himself fit for the world cup and give a newly promoted side a quality attacking option. A big name player such as him is likely to be more motivated by helping Forest establish themselves in the Premier league in their first season after 23 years than money at this stage of his career.

Half a season contract on 30k or whatever Forest's wage structure will allow. I am sure Cooper will not let the team harmony suffer with him at the club.

Yeah but its easy to be Wales white night when someone else is paying your (massive) wages.

I'm afraid I with you in your first sentence, theres something highly dubious about Bale his behaviour over the RM years can at best be described as childish and at worst totally unprofessional. Can you imagine what he'd be like in a dressing room like Forests when things are difficult in the Prem, and hes surrounded by players he doesn't see as his peers?. Theres not a shred of evidence based on past behaviour that he'd do anything other than cause trouble.

The goal for him at this stage is being in the best shape possible for the World Cup in Qatar.
That means he's going to have to play regularly and he's going to have to play top opposition.
That is the motivation for continuing his career I think. If Wales were not going to the World Cup, he'd have jacked it in.

With respect to people's opinions about Real Madrid, he's been there nine years and won five Champions Leagues. Four of those he's been an active participant in.
It's never really felt like Madrid took to him, because he wasn't Ronaldo and by the time 2019 came around, they pissed him around over a move to China.

I think if he did come to Forest, even until the World Cup starts, that does as much for the club off the field as it does on.
All of a sudden, people know Forest are serious and like him or not, players will want to come and play with him.
Commercially, he'd be great for the club even in the short term. Brennan looks up to him as well and im sure Rob Page would like them working closely together.

I look at his season with Spurs and while he only played 20 games, he scored 11 goals in the league for them. He's good in the air, still has his pace, can take a free-kick.

Paying him £100k a week for six months would work out at about £2.5m. Even with a signing bonus or a bigger weekly wage, you're still looking at about £5m-£6m.
Not that much for a Premierleague club, even for six months.

You would probably get like 15 games out of him as well between August - November.
I look at this as our Eriksen. Brentford brought in Eriksen on a short term contract and he kept them up with his impact.

I certainly see a lot more positives than negatives.

I don't think it's a question of whether we could stump up the cash but more whether the wages he'd be on causedvfroction in the dressing room with players on a tenth of his wage.

Just doesn't seem like a Cooper signing to me.

Remember how Jara played when he was keeping himself fit for a place at the World Cup? I'd fancy Bale to emulate the Chilean wherever he goes before the next tournament comes around. I get the feeling that all he really has left to achieve in his career is now at an international level. His next club won't be his priority.

If only it were just down to football, the prospect of a front 3 of Johnson (R), Bale (L) and Davies in the middle would be mouthwatering-trouble is its the vast amount of peripheral stuff and the potential for real trouble that's the issue.

I’d take Bale in a heartbeat if it miraculously became possible. Imagine him in the left and Johnson on the right. It could gain us 5 places up the table.
