You heard it here first, plucked out of absolute thin air. Vangelis said he wants to put some money down, Bale on £250k a week under Steve Cooper? Sign me up.

Massive lol. If the London teams don't have him, Newcastle or Southampton will. That's even assuming he comes back. Italy or Germany could suit. Don't we already have a thread for him, that cruelly reminds us how close we were to getting him?

If he’s not good enough for 14 times champions of Europe he’s not good enough for us, I mean we are good

Unfinished business from not signing him on loan in 2010 I'm sure he wanders every day what might have been....

Forest play in red like wales, we have a Welsh manager, and there are golf courses in Nottinghamshire.
What other proof does one need?

3 years ago Coutinho was playing for Barcelona and Aston Villa we’re playing in the Championship.

It is a funny link.

But can't believe some are genuinely saying no at the thought of even having Bale for 10 games over the season. He would do enough to keep you up on his own regardless of everything else that comes with him.

Doesn't really fit what we're looking for. He'll no doubt be on a huge wage even if he's a free. Well into his 30s and has a bad injury record of late.

This does seem like bullshit, though he is probably still, talent wise, an absolutely world class player.

Not sure about his legs but he's a match-winner and his free-kicks are world class.

When he steps up, I always think he's going to hit the target and work the goalkeeper or at least get very near.

I wouldn't sign him up for huge wages but if he was available on lower wages, I'd take him. Would also be good for Brennan to be around him.

He'll go to whoever offers him the highest wages.

Even though we're in the Premier League now I still wouldn't want to see us spunk a massive chunk of cash on players like Bale, as good as he is.

I honestly wouldn't want him.

Big time Charlie on huge wages? He'd disrupt the squad more than he'd bring to the table, IMO. Obviously a huge talent, but his heart hasn't been in it for years now.

It's a no from me.

If we are even contemplating players like Bale its the beginning of the end. Hes about as far as you can humanly get from Danes strategy and guys like him don't come into dressing rooms without there being ructions.

Totally stupid idea-leave him to the likes of Newcastle or Everton

How does anyone actually know he's a big time Charlie?

If there was any chance we could get him it's well worth a conversation. He's a match winner, on a free, and his signature would spark a bigger interest in Forest still, helping us get more games on Sky, more fans from abroad etc.

The biggest obstacle would be ensuring squad dynamics weren't impacted: specifically if Bale was on ~£100k a week, it might piss off the rest of our squad who were earning a third of that.

The only way this happens is if we follow a long tradition of successful managers being indulged with one leftfield wish-list signing. Do wonders for the profile of the club too. Although it could also create the kind of distractions we don't need.

Agree. Its incredibly unlikely, but if it was a possibility then we'd be mad not to consider it. Look at the impact Eriksen has had at Brentford; Bale could have the same effect here.
