Forest not paying the living wage

Any Time Now

Forest paying the living wage

''We took action in January 2020 and subsequently met with the club chairman who told us that while the club are sympathetic to the campaign, they want to invest every available penny into the playing side and that to commit to paying the Living Wage would put them at risk of breaching 'financial fair play'. ''

Shocking if true, lets just throw our minimum wage club staff under the bus so we can keep throwing 20 grand a week at useless f***ers like bong and arter. Bet our catering staff turned up more than either of those two have this season and the f***ing stadiums not even been open

I assume recent departures - 2 more ‘office staff’ gone - are unrelated to this?

We must be damn close to FFP margins then.Shocking(if true)in my opinion, given the number of so called 'players'
bleeding the club dry.

Wow. That statement is utter bullshit. They can merrily spunk hundreds of thousands on players who don't even play, but they can't bung a couple more quid an hour to the lowest paid at the club, who would really benefit?

You can absolutely guarantee that those getting paid the least at the club are those who have to work hardest to keep their jobs.

Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a fan of this club business.

Sorry Frank,I have to disagree. You said 'don't even play ',I would suggest 'can't even play '.

Re: Forest paying the living wage

Im sorry but I think its a load of shit that they can't pay staff a living wage. As some of you know I am american and the idea of a livable wage is gaining traction but way off from ever happening, even though the original idea of our minimum wage was to be a wage you COULD LIVE ON. FDR is rolling in his grave.

That statement above is whats wrong with the world, terrible.

Figure it out forest.

Re: Forest paying the living wage

One weeks‘ wage to one of the overpaid wasters who stink out the club would probably be sufficient to offset the increase in paying the living wage to the clubs‘ staff (there can’t be that many, can there?)

I do know the club has a reputation as miserly payers for non-footballing staff though.

The club can shove it up their bollocks for this.

Absolutely shocking.

I don’t know how they have the gall to even try to justify their miserable decision.

Re: Forest paying the living wage

As an example.

I know a lad who used to be a groundsman did it since he left school loves the club is Forest through and through.

They were paid (I don’t know what) for a 40 hour week but....

Had to work every Saturday there was a home game and work till 10ish for every mid-week home game.

They weren’t paid overtime for any hours worked outside of their salaried 40 hours dispute a working week being often 60 hours.

They did it out of the love of the club and in the knowledge that “there was plenty of people who would love to take your place”

Oh they got a free season ticket despite having to work for every home game.

Still should get paid for the great work he does.

It is an absolute disgrace that any organisation that claims to be part of its local community, and (not incidentally) plays on that significantly, whilst turning over tens of millions of pounds a year, does not pay a living wage to non-playing staff.

That should be an absolute no-brainier for the football club, it would be an easy decision and a massively popular one.

The FFP excuse is laughable. Surely just not signing one or two of the useless fringe players (such as Diallo for example, who never played a game for us) would free up more than enough money to pay our staff the living wage?

Even regardless of that, I find it hard to believe that increasing their wages (which is still only a tiny bit more money in the grand scheme of things) would push us beyond FFP. It's a joke, Forest need to sort this out ASAP.
