The thought of a calloused circle jerk has my winkle shrinking inside like a cold day.

Treated myself to many a walnut whip from there when I was a kid after a game.I remember going into a tiny sweet shop close to the corner of the Trent embankment near the boots old social club. Can’t picture what’s there now though?
Didn't realise you could get a Walnut Whip while rationing was still onTreated myself to many a walnut whip from there when I was a kid after a game.
My willy looked like Walnut Whip when I was Kid, I used to wring dry it instead of shaking it.Didn't realise you could get a Walnut Whip while rationing was still on

The commentary alone gives you goosebumps. What a team that was. With regards the Brazil team of 1970, I think this bit of magic from Pele just sums up the whole thing -this miss is more exciting than most goals!
Agree Bonfy, eastern bloc games always looked dull like they couldn’t afford decent floodlights.I used to love the old England games in places like Poland or Yugoslavia…….grainy images……commentary from inside the bog or so it sounded with the reverberations and that buzz from the crowd along with the klaxons ……could be playing anywhere at anytime of year and it always looked cold.
Haha, that’s a good descriptionI’ve got memories of rushing back from school Yugoslavia 1-4 England ( sure that was the score) ….the beam back was shocking and the sound was like a badly tuned LW radio ….bloody great it was ..
When I'm feeling down I often play that clip - it makes me feel so much better. The commentary alone gives you goosebumps. What a team that was.
Agreed mate, a magical momentWhen I'm feeling down I often play that clip - it makes me feel so much better.
There are so many aspects of it that are absolutely fantastic- not only Pele's run and dummy, but Tostao's pass was just sublime, and he'd only seen Pele out of the corner of his eye.
Me and Anita took the then-kids on a family holiday to Cattolica in the early-80s Gary, and a nice place it was too. I recall hiring a car and we visited Rimini, Pesaro and San Marino while we were there. It's somewhere both of us would definitely like to revisit, but it's not a part of Italy that seems to feature amongst the regular holiday destinations.I was privileged to have watched two weeks of the 1970 World Cup in various bars in Cattolica, Italy with my Mum and Dad.
The following year we went to Rimini where stayed at the same hotel as Notts County team, they were on a pre season tour.
That's brilliant Frank. Although I was young I remember those places very well. As you say those places seem to slip under the radar of the modern holiday destinations.Me and Anita took the then-kids on a family holiday to Cattolica in the early-80s Gary, and a nice place it was too. I'm going to have to do a bit of research regarding potential routes and costs Gary. That's brilliant Frank. Although I was young I remember those places very well. As you say those places seem to slip under the radar of the modern holiday destinations.
Back in the 90s I did a week in Sorrentento, a week on Ischia and a week touring the Amalfi coast. Had a day on Capri, cost me approx £13 for a bottle of beer.I have visited Italy several times (mostly for work) and I absolutely love the people, and the food.
I mostly was in and around Emilia-Romagna, Parma, Modena and Bologna, and the food there is frankly sensational, but I always used to come back about 5kg heavier than when I left home.
Go for it FrankI'm going to have to do a bit of research regarding potential routes and costs Gary.
