Wouldn’t it increase the pleasure? A bit like ribbed condoms?

Didn't realise you could get a Walnut Whip while rationing was still on
My willy looked like Walnut Whip when I was Kid, I used to wring dry it instead of shaking it. 🤪

I used to love the old England games in places like Poland or Yugoslavia…….grainy images……commentary from inside the bog or so it sounded with the reverberations and that buzz from the crowd along with the klaxons ……could be playing anywhere at anytime of year and it always looked cold.

Agree Bonfy, eastern bloc games always looked dull like they couldn’t afford decent floodlights.
It’s pure nostalgic isn’t it, watching games on the Rediffusion tv that had poor contrast compared to what we have now. The audio seemed warmer too even though it slightly distorted when the commentator got excited 😂

I’ve got memories of rushing back from school Yugoslavia 1-4 England ( sure that was the score) ….the beam back was shocking and the sound was like a badly tuned LW radio 🤣🤣….bloody great it was ..

When I'm feeling down I often play that clip - it makes me feel so much better.

There are so many aspects of it that are absolutely fantastic- not only Pele's run and dummy, but Tostao's pass was just sublime, and he'd only seen Pele out of the corner of his eye.
Agreed mate, a magical moment 👍🏼

I was privileged to have watched two weeks of the 1970 World Cup in various bars in Cattolica, Italy with my Mum and Dad.

The following year we went to Rimini where stayed at the same hotel as Notts County team, they were on a pre season tour.
Me and Anita took the then-kids on a family holiday to Cattolica in the early-80s Gary, and a nice place it was too. I recall hiring a car and we visited Rimini, Pesaro and San Marino while we were there. It's somewhere both of us would definitely like to revisit, but it's not a part of Italy that seems to feature amongst the regular holiday destinations.

That's brilliant Frank. Although I was young I remember those places very well. As you say those places seem to slip under the radar of the modern holiday destinations.

I have visited Italy several times (mostly for work) and I absolutely love the people, and the food.

I mostly was in and around Emilia-Romagna, Parma, Modena and Bologna, and the food there is frankly sensational, but I always used to come back about 5kg heavier than when I left home.

Back in the 90s I did a week in Sorrentento, a week on Ischia and a week touring the Amalfi coast. Had a day on Capri, cost me approx £13 for a bottle of beer.
