And people talk about our spending and the amount of players we bring in.

Just goes to show

I’m happy for us to cop for a £5m overspend and take a 2/3 point deduction. We all know we signed at least half a dozen too many players, and the board need to take the blame for this

But charging us for a £35m overspend in the face of all the rest of the shit half the league are getting away just seems vindictive.

Its ridiculous really, even the Leeds fans getting caught up in the faux outrage when the income that they had helping them stay within limits was from them selling future TV rights for premier league football amongst other bonkers accountancy manoeuvres.

They did receive a hefty sale income for two players last year but also spent twice as much bringing in additional players in to a squad that was already one that had survived for 2 years in the Premier league.

The rules are crap and how and what counts on the books seems to make little or no sense. Shame our owner was so disorganised though that he failed FFP yet other clubs were shrewder in how they accounted.

PSR is the only method in town to stop clubs going bust. I know it’s sucks but it does. The biggest problem is having an unbalanced league in terms do revenue generation. So that needs sorting out more than anything. Clubs shouldn’t have to be bought by billionaires to compete. Otherwise they will always be “play things” how could they not be? If a billionaire with spare disposable to burn is the only way to compete?

To be honest I’m slowly starting to get turned off by football. Competition only gets worse yet more people are watching than ever. It’s like fans want this?!?! It’s very depressing at the moment.

Everyone can learn from each other as well. We can definetly take some lessons from American sports. However they can definetly take lessons from us. The NFL competitive integrity maybe there with how they do the drafts but the fact not all teams have the same fixtures and you can be in a really hard conference where another team has an easy one really questions the sporting integrity. However we can learn from how they balance out competition in terms of transfers and spending on players.

One person’s shrewd is another’s fraudulent in my opinion.
We see the same with penalty decisions, the top 6 have players that are clever, players at other clubs are divers

The NFL has competition within competition (i.e., divisions within the structure) - yes the schedules are unbalanced but tie breakers actually take that into account. Plus, the #1 competition is within your division (which is home and home) so with all other things being equal best team wins the division. There's nothing there where you can question the integrity of the sport. IMO that's grasping at straws.

As others have pointed out, the lack of promotion/relegation allows for a far more stable revenue stream - and that's where the Premier League has completely distorted English football. The football revenue stays at the top too much. Then you mix in allowing non-football revenue into the mix and your system is simply fooked (and that's a real place to question the integrity of a sport).

I disagree there are teams in the NFL who have far easier set of games compared to other sides in the regular season. I like NFL by the way been getting into it through fantasy league quite a bit. However teams get easier fixtures compared to others because of how it is organised.

Chelsea appear to have done a Derby is a short answer. (Plus a host of other clubs).

Whether it is sold outright or sold and leased back Idk. EFL shut this loophole in summer 2021, unsure about how the PL view it but it makes a mockery.

Leicester cannot be deducted points in the EFL by the PL but two further complicating factors..
A) Had the PL begun the case last year hmm. Such cases can with permission of the relevant Leagues be passed onto the other League to carry on..they've already begun a case pertaining to EFL Regs hence the Embargo. An aligned Rule suggested it can be passed onto the PL.
B) Said EFL case, Rule 2.10.1 states that if the 3 year P&S number put in on 1st March is over, the League can refer.

I think the EFL are hellbent so they may try again this year to refer Leicester to the CFRP.

FFP/PSR does not stop clubs going bust. Just ask Bury and Macclesfield supporters how it helped them. It just stops investment of a scale that would challenge the status quo.

I really appreciate your taking the time to discuss these matters here, even though it's all way over my head.
Happy to debate, I quite enjoy the FFP craic and evolving criteria.

Everton and their accounts seem very murky.. -2 for a 2nd Offence and yea I know it was broken down but that one is hard to fathom...no extra points or reduction in mitigation for a 2nd Breach??

Then given that the restatement of Accounts and capitalisation of Interest affects multiple years.. to decide it after this season seems odd but maybe the League had no choice ie it would take too long to unpick either way.
