Financial Fair Play (FFP)

Why has it taken two more months for the PL to charge Leicester than it did for them to charge Forest and Everton?

At the end of last season, the PL clubs voted to implement a new PSR timetable to ensure all charges/sanctions were applied in the same season. Part of this meant that PL clubs had to submit their June 23 accounts to the PL on Dec 31st.

Leicester were relegated before that vote, so aren't subject to the new timetable.

Interesting. But surely that didn't stop the Premier League from charging them when they charged us and Everton anyway?

It seems like it's not coincidence that they're announcing this charge a couple of days after they successfully deducted 4 points from Forest. Are they getting more encouraged with each club they punish? It rather begs the question how many other clubs could be charged.

I doubt they'd have seen their accounts in time to charge them when Forest/Everton got done.

I'd imagine the timing is because the end of March is when you have to submit your annual accounts to Companies House (9 months after year end). So either the PL have now seen them & don't like them, or they still haven't seen them & assume they are hiding something (a la Derby).

Although I can't really comment on Storey (other than knowing that he's the chief football writer on the i newspaper) John Percy has been around a lot longer than Tails, building important connections. Also, Percy and Storey didn't have the distinct disadvantage having to start off at the Nottingham Post. Considering that, I think Taylor is ok.
Storey is from Notts

Dan Storey is a good writer and always comes across well on podcasts, etc but he doesn't really do much news reporting like Percy & Taylor x2.

Seems unlikely.

We were £34m over this year so next year that figure falls to £20m through additional allowances and when you add on Johnson and Mangala sales that pushes us into £40m profit.

To be facing a short fall of £60m would mean amortisation of this year's transfers and uplift of wage bill of £100m. Sounds about £50m too much to me.

One of the issues we have is that the loss that falls off for next year's 3 year assessment is a very small one from 20/21 (£3m-ish according to the IC report). So the bulk of our overspend from from this charge will still be present next year.

Regards amortisation, I did some very (very!) basic fag packet calcs and reckon we'd have added about £32m to our amortised transfer costs this season. Wage bill could be scary, Brentford were at £99m last season, it wouldn't surprise me if ours was a fair bit higher.

When was that vote though, as Leicester would have had their golden share until the end of June...

That shiny showpiece Leicester training facility wouldn't have been cheap! Are they allowed to claim for that against PSR?
Infrastructure is, training ground, academy etc etc I'd not used in the calculations iirc.

PSR is purely first team, managers, transfers, wages. Unsure if it extends to analysts, kit etc.

At the AGM apparently (mid-June), which is when they swap the shares over to Promoted clubs.

Shouldn't matter too much.

We'll get £20m additional losses allowance (assuming we're still in the PL), so as as long as our net profit isn't less than -£20m then losing that year of small losses doesn't mean a great deal.

At this point it's probably worth pointing out that trying to work out what side of the line we are going to fall on is pretty much irrelevant unless we don't fix the wider strategic clusterfuck of signing tonnes of players on expensive contracts, lots of whom aren't very good. Or, in others words, being forced to be more streamlined might actually benefit us on the pitch. Our attrition is hampering our progress.

We're not. We vote with the big six and clearly think pulling up the drawbridge behind us is hunky-dory.

Marinakis would like nothing more for financial disparity to increase so that Forest can safely amble about in mid-table in perpetuity and he can cream off a bit of the £120m+ a year he gets for Forest doing so.
Can you let us know how much he has creamed off to date in your opinion?

If the £30m is true then Forest should simply sell 3 year season tickets. That would raise about £30m.

I watched the Kieran Mcguire interview on Forest Fan TV. He states we'll have raise 30ish million before June. He also points out that everyone knows this so low offers will be the order of the day. The Premier league is such a rigged, depressing place
Watched that too. Was disappointed no-one has asked him about the promotion bonuses which he has said all along were exempt from the PSR calculation.

I’d be interested in seeing definitive evidence this has always been the case actually.
