And the stuff about Farage being such an out Nazi at prep school - why had I never heard that before?
Because he’s got friends in the (right-leaning) media who conveniently hush it up for him.

There were long rumours about Farage‘s conduct when he was an MEP, his alleged interest in, and dalliance with, many of the right- or extreme right-leaning parties in the European Parliament.

But this is the man the English media crowned as the „man of the people“, the standard-bearer against those rotten Europeans.

Nope.

You seem to be making the assumption that I'm a Daily Mail/Telegraph reader/Lee Anderson enthusiast because I call the Guardian a left wing rag . . . . yet I'd call the Mail a right wing rag in the same breath.

But, than again, you're a socialist; easily offended and quick to jump to conclusions. Go fill your own boots. . . . and enjoy your wank.
Me? I’m a Nazi.

I thought everyone knew that?

And. Don’t be personally rude. We don’t do that here. It’s neither big, nor clever.

Make your point, and defend it. But don’t resort to personal insults.

OK?

Great tweet from Stan Collymore:

"Because every club should feel it has a shot at the title, and currently the set up in the Premier League does not allow this."
Stan's last line is very poignant and is why many of us feel like much of the magic of the English top tier has been lost since the Premier League came about.

Many of the 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the 70s and 80s would have very little chance of finishing in those places again.

I believe this is contributing to a lot of the current feeling amongst the Forest supporters, especially those of us who witnessed English football before 1992 and those who luckily witnessed the miracles that happened under Cloughie's reign to win the 1st division (now Premier League) title straight after winning promotion, then go on to win the European Cup twice.

Most football fans just want a dream to believe in however the Premier League have slowly but surely sapped that enjoyment from us football romantics with their rigid, monopolised system.

Can you imagine, a club „doing a Watford“, as the club formerly chaired by Elton Hercules John, and led by Graham Taylor, did in the 1980s?

That is what football is all about.

Or, it should be.

Might as well promote this unknown gem while I'm at it. Late-era Byrds, atypical sound. Clarence White probably in there somewhere. Apparently McGuinn on an altercation with a black radical outside the Whiskey.

No, it isn't OK. Somebody called you out earlier for fat shaming Evangelos Marinakis - have you apologised? Perhaps you should do . . . . OK?

And which bit about you is "personally rude"?

Too quick to take offence, you Guardian readers.

A mate who's also into his seventies gave me this book for Christmas:

James O'Brien - How they broke Britain

One of the most depressing things I've read in ages - still ploughing through it, and I realise he has his own agenda and I'm sure can be criticised, but along with Toffs (can't remember who by) it really demolishes the current Tory crew and their predecessors for the last few years.
It's spot on. Not one of the people he covers has even threatened to sue.

As O'Brien says, "It's just counting".

I wish I didn't have a huge beer gut. (Though in my 70s I might explain it away, and it's a wine gut really).

If someone called me fat, I hope I'd have the good grace not to accuse them of fat shaming.

From the Guardian article:

“The year after their mega splurge, a period when signings were being reeled off every few days on the Marinakis Jr Instagram reel, Forest released 33 players and hired Nuno Espírito Santo, the seventh manager of the current era.”

33 players Barney? Really? Are you counting the under 19s?

Finally read the report and it doesn't make great reading. We've spent recklessly and acted incompetently. I'd still stick in an appeal (mainly to cover off anything that might pop up in Everton's 2nd charge) but I'm quite relieved with a 4 point deduction.

If we can't pick up 2 more points than Luton over 9 games, considering each sides run of fixtures, then we're probably better off in the Championship.

Perhaps if you re-read the whole thread, you’d see the question I asked was „which Marinakis?“ as it seemed one particular poster (and only one) had read my response to Emmo‘s post, put two and two together and got fifteen, which I subsequently clarified.

I have also posted (more than once) criticising the ownership for their seeming lack of financial governance. That is an absolutely legitimate criticism - have a read of the full report from the Independent Commission, and you’ll see they level similar concerns about the conduct of NFFC. (And yes, corporate governance is something I know a little bit about, and Forest have - frankly - made a mess of that here).

And, personally rude? „Go and enjoy your wank“?

Seriously?

This is a friendly, welcoming forum, where we can share a love of Forest and other stuff. Those of us who give up our time as Moderators of this forum will not allow it to become an untrammelled shit-fest of cliquish behaviour where posters think they can insult others with impunity; that’s not how we’ve rolled for twenty years now, and we won’t change that philosophy, and if anything, the promotion to the Premier League has brought us a different kind of fan, whose behaviour is not always what we’d wish. But, that’s life, as it were.

Our way of running the forum is clear: make your point, and defend it; and don’t personally insult other posters.

If your preference is for more robust debate, there are of course other forums which you might find preferable.

A Mr E Marinakis, believed to be of Greek origin, has launched a 'gargantuan shaming' website.

"Are you over 30 stone? Have you been called gargantuan? Let's sue the ass off whoever we can."

The site crashed after it was swamped by millions of Americans.

Point of order on the report: it stated Forest were forecasting 23/24 losses of £12-17M. Granted that forecast may lack a certain level of credibility right now, but the assumption is that this calculation was based on the Johnson sale proceeds being included in the 22/23 results as per their argument.

If that cash is instead allocated to 23/24, we could be looking at a £30m profit instead.

I don't think so. Johnson's sale was never in the 22/23 numbers. They just wanted it to be used as mitigation.

That forecast will include his sale (Scarpa, Surridge as well). Which doesn't make good reading as we look to be well over the increased limit for this season.

FY22 -£40m
FY23 -£52m
FY24 -£12m (forecast)

= - £104m (the limit is -£83m).

So we'll need Mangala's sale on the books before June 30th & maybe another one.
