Marinakis is a board member of six companies, a city councillor and a few other bits besides. I doubt he is as close to operational decisions in NG2 as we sometimes like to think. My guess is one of the executive team screwed up here.

Good thing is we now know what we're shooting for. If we get a reduction on appeal so much the better. If we can't do what's necessary in 9 games we simply aren't good enough. We should be. COYR.
You mean the people he routinely fires so we don't have a stable back room.

Unless I’m misreading the report the fact we could have sold Brennan to Atletico Madrid for €50m on the 30th June and been compliant is somewhat annoying.

Why didn't we? What changed in the space of four weeks given we knew we were going to breach FFP and that's pretty much the same sum of money as Spurs eventually got him for.

Doesn't sound right. Someone's got that mixed up. Maybe it was June 2022 and we didn't want to sell as we hadn't gone on our spending spree yet?

The Brennan Johnson mitigation was rejected because, broadly, we took too long to sell him after the accounts deadline, and there was no evidence we tried to sell him in the previous January window.

"On 31 March 2023, Forest provided the Premier League with its PSR Calculation based on a projected league position of 12th at the end of the 2022/23 season"

Lol our owner is deranged.

In fairness we were one point off of 12th with a game in hand at that point, obviously we were only 3 ahead of bottom place too though!

Hopefully it will temper expectations and if we have to submit projections in a couple of weeks this year we will be a bit more realistic and only put Europa league qualification rather than champions league as our projected finish!

Atletico needed to sell before they could buy. So it wouldn't have concluded in time. We submitted a counter proposal to Atletico that was never followed up on by us. Which is why it was rejected as mitigation.

We rejected £43m for Johnson from Atletico at the end of June.

That's not quite full value, but easily worth 4 points.
But did Johnson want to go? More desirable than Brentford for sure, but if he knew Spuds were sniffing around he held on for them to formally come in for him.

Any appeal carries the risk that the sanction increases. I work in law.
I wonder if Everton considered this when they got theirs reduced?

Would it not be highly unlikely to impose a greater sanction under such circumstances though?

Why would we have tried to sell him in the previous January? That would have relegated us.

Our whole argument was that we delayed the sale to maximise our profit. It stands to reason, if you accept that premise, that the maximum fee is gained close to the deadline.

If my ex-wife was hearing the appeal it would be highly lightly 🤔

Possibly, but that would turn on whether the Premier League play ball. Based on the Everton sanction, there is every chance that the PL could appeal and say the punishment was too lenient. IMO this also gives rise for Everton to take action as on the face of it, they have been treated more harsher than Forest.

Our beach confirmed as £34.5m
As per the report

Forest has admitted that it breached the PSR and that the quantification of such
breach for Forest’s FY23 PSR Calculation is a loss of £95,536,000, resulting in a £34,536,000
breach of the PSR Threshold. The Commission accepts this quantification of the breach.

Right, so there wasn't really an offer we could accept to free up the money then.

So it's no surprise that mitigation was denied.

Don't know why we even brought it up. May as well have gone with "Man City phoned us once about potential £80m bid for Johnson but we didn't hear from them again." - has about as much weight.
