You've never been on a bus after 8pm in Mansfield have youOne other point, if public transport there was as good as it is in the rest of Europe perhaps, you wouldn’t need to use a car so much?

Oh yes, I worked in Mansfield for a couple of years, back in The 1990s. It was, shall we say, interesting. You've never been on a bus after 8pm in Mansfield have you
100% thisThe only revenues clubs should be able to claim against FFP/PSR should be directly football related. Matchday, TV, Prize Money. Everything else should be capped. At about £25m tops. It’s getting silly.
The 90's were tame compared to the 70's mate, as one poster put it, it was like the Wild WestOh yes, I worked in Mansfield for a couple of years, back in The 1990s. It was, shall we say, interesting.
It's all about financial [power], nothing to do with fair playYep. Financial "Fair" Play is working exactly as intended.
Reading back I realise I missed player sales but hope that was implicit in ‘football related’100% this
Yes I agree
Chelsea included a hotel they sold to their owners! That’s great if you’re in West London, but how are you meant to compete if you’re in Nottingham, Sunderland or Sheffield? It’s totally unfair.
But honestly, do Forest own the training ground? Can they not perform this accounting crap by selling the training ground to EM?Surely there is a lesson for „Big“ Evangelos here; he could buy the freehold for the City Ground off the Council as the football club for a few million, then sell it to himself in a personal capacity for about €500m or something?
Sometimes, my genius astounds me.
The retail park with the Boots and Next in does my head in. First 45 mins free but you have to pay thereafter, but don't get a ticket to say what time you entered. Was 10 minutes over once at 8pm on a weeknight when the whole car park was empty. Got a £50 fine, despite just spending £250 in TK Maxx and Next. For years afterwards I'd park at Dunelm and just walk over the bridge to the other one out of spite. I do park there now but every time I go I'm just paranoid and clock watching, usually end up paying for an hour on the app early rather than risk being a minute over. Even if you know you'll be more than 45 minutes you can't pay straight away because it won't recognise your free 45 minutes.Mini rant here but, similar to Forest's latest blunder with the SC prices (maximum wankery and fuckwittery for minimum return), it drives me nuts how many places in Mansfield demand you pay for parking.
Like, for years people just used to drive into town just for the sake of driving into town. They'd go with no intention of buying anything, and just wandering around and seeing folk they new. Course, in reality, they'd usually see something they wanted and end up spending some cash too. It made for a good day out, they were happy, and local businesses got some coin too. Win-win all round.
But for the sake of a few quid parking, loads of folk I know don't bother now. Shocking IMO.
Ha, the Market Karaoke has coughed up some right sights over the yearsI remember one Sunday afternoon after being on the lash with the lads from football we went into The market pub in the square in Mansfield. Something erupted (nothing to do with our group) the body count was like a scene out of platoon and there were tables flying everywhere and pint pots all over the shop. An Asian guy called Dave ran it, sadly died a few years back and he stood up on the bar and shouted "Oiiiiiii, if you're gonna do that.....other room" Despite all the carnage it was the laughing that I nearly died from
I’m being honest here that speech didn’t mean anything to me because the elephant in the room is operating costs. He’s going on about stopping ambitious owners which I agree in isolation it stops owners using there own money. However I don’t want football to become about just having rich owners. Also it’s an absurd situation anyway even if you put into law that any investment in the club isn’t loaded on as debt you can’t have a situation where the owner is subsidising wages. If owners walk away with operating costs they cover you will feck clubs over. We are heavily reliant on maranakis even without direct investment. Not sure if it's been posted but last night Darren Fletcher on radio 5 fired a broadside at the Premier League and said what many of us feel.
Well worth a listen
It was good night tbf. That route up from huxters, onto the bank, swan, Yates and up to the clubs was superb.Ha, the Market Karaoke has coughed up some right sights over the years
Honestly, I loved Mano with a passion in the 90's & 00's. Every night out down there was like an adventure. Limos, Valos, Lexis, Harveys, Village, Huxters, Swan, Yard, Pali, Market, Cafe Imperial, Cheeky's, Martha's....everywhere had it's own character and there was always somewhere you could land where you'd find a cracking time.
I genuinely can't remember if they did or didn't Market was usually a place we went on bank hols, and by the time we got there we were well smashed lolIt was good night tbf. That route up from huxters, onto the bank, swan, Yates and up to the clubs was superb.
Funnily enough it was in the karaoke side that it kicked off. Did they have that £1 coin stuck to the floor when you went in? Seen a few folk trying to sneakily scuff it off the floor to no avail
That's an experienced head. The only way to go into the market was when you were already pissedI genuinely can't remember if they did or didn't Market was usually a place we went on bank hols, and by the time we got there we were well smashed lol
