Financial Fair Play (FFP)

OK thanks, I thought for the agreement before the end of the period had to be with the party you ended up selling them too, hence why the news about dialogue with Spurs might have been useful. Clutching at straws

I hope you're assessment is right, in terms of no penalty, and understand why that is unfair from a competitive point of view. Just think the panel will say well OK there are lower revenues/thresholds in the EFL, but then again you have much lower costs (for the first 2 years of the rolling 3 year period) and hence it's an even playing field

I wasn’t clear sorry as I was thinking more in terms of the PSR rules allowing for an adjustment rather than the actual accounts, using the principle of ‘substance over form’ but in truth i don’t know. But only if there was a conditional agreement, which there probably wasn’t!

As for the EFL/PL discrepancy, I still don’t see how it’s a fair thing regardless of whether our costs were likely lower in the EFL. I also appreciate that the PL voted for it but that’s probably a self preservation thing anyway by the clubs who were in it at the time. Who knows!

The Everton appeal document said that fines and suspended points deductions are not options. If you breach it’s a points deduction. My view is that we’ll get 3 points on the condition we don’t appeal. If we can’t stay above Luton with a 3 point deduction we don’t deserve to be in the prem.
Of course our mitigation might be accepted and we get no punishment.

Rubics

Bin VAR!
We might get no punishment, but they’re trying to play billy big bollocks so they don’t get an independent regulator.

One less gobshite...
I love that people like to argue that FFP/PSR is a stupid system but when it comes to other clubs, they literally prefer even more stupidity.

Great credit to this forum for generating such a wide collection of views on the likely points penalty for Forest.
A brilliant brainstorm.
Sadly PL has effectively avoided addressing its own rules for many years. It has ignored the overspend of many promoted clubs who reached a financial settlement with EFL.
PL (the twenty clubs) decided not to have a tariff but leave it to a Commission of three KCs - the wisest people to determine the penalty.
The decision is appealed and then referred to three more wise men who decide the first three wise men made an error of 40% - quite remarkable! They also appear to use EFL rules as guidance.
We now await the appointment of three more wise men to deal with NFFC.

How can anyone can make any sense of this?

Meanwhile Manchester City carry on regardless.

It’s worse than VAR - at least we can be 90% sure of the outcome!!

This thread is batshit crazy.

We range from claims of a slap on the wrist to those members who are totally exaggerating and appear to want a massive deduction so they can moan about the board, with anything in between.

There's gonna be some eggy faces when all this is concluded.
If you think i want a massive deduction your completely deluded I love it to be 3 points I'd even take you on a night out on the piss my treat to celebrate.
I just personally think we're gonna get screwed I didn't at first and now I do as for the board well it is there fault its certainly not mine or yours I just believe if you f*** something up you need to own it not bitch about getting caught
P.s don't hold me too the free night out motorbike race season starts soon and tyres are expensive 🤣

Depends what our defence is and if it stands up

Nobody will care about a potential points deduction after we’ve battered Liverpool on Saturday
Honestly, it would be such a big win.

Not only would it be a big scalp, but 2 back to back home wins would really help start to breed that home-fortress mentality again. Which we'll need facing Man City & Chelsea arse end of the season.

Our defence will be fine... until Count Vlachula decides to stand behind them for some reason and then miraculously somehow concede a 6 point deduction.
