Wouldnt mind a look at a Sow, Cafu, Kirovinovic central midfield.

Re: [BUPA] Filip Krovinovic

If I understand correctly, Krovinovic is a midfielder who has often been used as a no. 10. If so, this would mean that he's either coming to replace Cafú, or to add the possibility of a more creative midfield, with two creative midfielders in front of only one holding midfielder. It would also mean that there are no high hopes for Freeman.

Freeman looks like the injury has done for any chance of us building round him.

Cafu looks the dictionary definition of box to box. I reckon the dynamic with him, Sow & Krovinovic doesnt look like compromising us too much defensively but adds a ton of creativity going forward. along with another decent winger, the last piece in the jigsaw of redressing the balance from an over defensive approach.

I have a feeling that is probably what Hughton will go with. Should be decent enough to see us through to the end of the season.

I'd fiercely argue that taking care of this season should be the sole priority recruitment-wise.

If signing this lad on loan helps with that goal, then that should be the main aim.

Of course, staying up is the priority. I'd prefer more long term signings, but if we can't do that then at least loan signings like this should help us get over the line until the summer.

Freeman also gives us the option of quality delivery from wide.

I hope this is not one of those;

before signing, excellent player, will bolster our midfield.

after signing, absolute rubbish, don't know why we sign these sort of players.

Unfortunately Richard, that type of response is inevitable.

I am not sure January is the time to be making those kind of signings. Plus it gives Hughton to have pretty much have a full season to assess the squad before putting his stamp on the side in the summer.

Most likely, but at least it will only be a 6 month loan deal, it isn't like we are committing a lot of resource to this one.

Meh. Will probably be alright in the short-term but I was hoping we'd sign someone with half an eye on next season.

In our current situation, I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I'd say there's no reason this loan couldn't cover a bit of both of these aspects. He'll only have a year left on his Benfica contract come this summer and they were willing to sell him to WBA anyway, he's a good age at 25 and if he has a decent 6 months on loan here I'd imagine the option to keep him permanently will be there for us.

Hopefully you're right, if there is an option to buy him then it is a sort of try-before-you-buy scenario, that could benefit us next season if all goes well.

I try really hard not to jump to conclusions too quickly with players because they have a habit of making people look silly when they get a run leading to fitness and familiarity (Watson, Colback being 2 very recent examples) but I'm afraid I'm really struggling with Cafu....
Hes steady, but he's occupying that one role in a side playing the way we are set up where there's real licence and as such we need to see some spark and he looks, well, pedestrian.....Maybe he'll come good, but he looks like a fatter, slower version of Tiago Silva last year...

You're a barrel of laughs aren't you? Remind me to give you a ring next time I watch The Notebook and need someone to make me feel even worse after.

All I'll say is you'll struggle to find a bleaker ending than the one in that film

Just for the record, Cafu is f***ing RIPPED and not fat. Not having this fat tag. Geezer is a tank.

I had read the book before the film and couldn’t believe they’d got that past the test audiences. Hollywood loves a positive ending and force it upon films all the time.

I don't mind 'downer' endings - Se7en, The Italian Job, Magic, etc - but I hated the ending to The Mist. It just felt so contrived. I wish they'd gone with the more open-ended but bleak finale to King's novella.

Ah, I see someone followed my advice and checked his instagram account; to check his very cute baby boy, no doubt. ::)
