Filip Krovinovic

Re: [BUPA] Filip Krovinovic

Oh No, Carvalho is not worth 13m. Who cares? He's not, you're right. However, if he can do the job better than what we have his price tag is completely irrelevant.

From what I have seen this season he would have helped us hugely. For those who disagree, well what can I say? we've just been so creative.

Flawed logic: Because we’ve not been creative (agreed) we would be under Carvalho. Could say the same about Da Costa or Clough. Lack of creativity currently doesn’t automatically mean we’d be more creative with xyz player in the team. It doesn’t take into account the outcome where we remain not creative, most likely due to the way Hughton sets us up.

I think the most likely outcome is that we would still not be creative with Carvalho in the team, but we would also have a little Portuguese chap wandering around midfield being largely anonymous save for the odd nutmeg. Saw this plenty of times when he was here.

More chance of Flippin' Covidovic.

Re: [BUPA] Filip Krovinovic

John Percy says this lad is on the list but unlikely. "More likely to sign another WBA player". Coincidentally Robert Snodgrass is having a medical at WBA today which would probably suggest a different winger drops further down the pecking order.
Unless another club come in for him, it would be a huge surprise if we don't see a certain WBA winger arrive in this window.

If Carvalho cost us 5m the perseption of him would be completely different in my opinion, he should be at the club and playing. As you say the price tag is irrelevant. We back the wrong horses and give up too easily.

Carvalho might create, but he delivers f*** all off the ball, which like it or not is the primary role of the three lads in the middle. The stats appear to point to us missing chances, so the knock on effect defensively might suggest we could have regressed still further with Carvalho in the side.

We need something more robust in their for this approach, Cafus doing okay but Krovinovic being an everpresent in WBAs promo season looks an upgrade.

With respect, how can you go on about Carvalho not being robust enough then suggesting Krovinovic will be an upgrade. He is the same style of player as Joao.

Havent seen him play, but I can put two & two together given hes been an everpresent in a notoriously physical Championship promotion winning side. That has to count for something.

Carvalhos done f*** all, with more than enough time to do it.

It doesnt feel like rocket science, but I could be wrong. All about opinions.

Its funny, not necessarily you, how much time folk spend on opinion related football forums who clearly dont like other peoples opinions.

Krovinovic is no different to Joao apart from he keeps it simple and takes less risks than Joao does. The signing would be pointless when he is out on loan, like I say, backing the wrong horses.

Re: [BUPA] Filip Krovinovic

He would be great for this league, had a great last season with WBA.

Played something like 11 games for wBA in prem, so not sure he would leave them or drop back into Champ. Unless WBA have plans for other loanees

Owd Ham Salad Eyes doesn't really need midfield for the type of game he plays.

The Athletic reports that we're considering this guy. So probably no longer BUPA.

Re: [BUPA] Filip Krovinovic

I havent suggested Carvalho was worth his fee I also think he was grossly overpriced. That being said for a number 10 his stats are just as good Krovinovic and we own Carvalho! If we played him we may get his price up.

We are desparate for a a number 10 who is much better than Cafu attacking wise. I actually think Cafu is the good number 8 to be used sitting next to Sow and linking the defence to the attack. So depends who is better Krovinovic or Cafu?

Krovinovic a decent enough player but does he improve the starting 11 thats the question? If we are looking at the starting 11 id say we need upgrades on Yates, Ameobi and Cafu at number 10 in order for us to score more.

Taylor's piece in the athletic was good apparently we are on the top 5 for shots?? Here is a quote from Tails

"Forest are not a side that create many chances, as Hughton often laments. But they do have a habit of failing to make the most of those they do create. Only Derby (14) and Sheffield Wednesday (15) have scored fewer goals than Forest (16) so far. On a basic level, the 269 efforts on goal Forest have had this season is the fifth most in the Championship (Norwich lead the way with 375). But the ratio of those efforts that have led to goals (5.95 per cent) is the second-worst in the division. Forest’s percentage of shots on target (24.9 per cent) is also the lowest, which goes a long way to explaining things."

Yates has had one of the highest amount of shots in the championship without scoring so if he is not sitting and sow is than to help us score more hell need replacing. Ameobi has 1 contribution for Forest in 25 games and Cafu is a defensive midfielder playing number 10.

If we are to look at issues with the squad thats where we should start. The back 5 have improved lots this past 5 games and credit to them the one sitter is either Sow or Yates for me.

So is Krovinovic an upgrade on Carvalho or Johnson at number 10 or is he an upgrade on Yates or Cafu at number 8? Id say Yates is fighting Sow for the sitting role than Arter and Cafu for the number 8 role. Number 10 role we are chronically short we could do with Freeman back soon.

Haven't seen enough of this lad from West Brom to comment. However, I have seen enough of Carvalho to say that he is infinitely more talented than the current crop we play week in week out. By no means is he worth the transfer fee, and by no means was he consistent. But he is capable of doing things that are level above what are current sideways passing cloggers can do.

Unfortunately, I think the Big Greek thought, 'I've paid 13m for you - why aren't you Lionel Messi? and decided to get shot of him'. I would also suggest that there were attitude problems behind the scenes. I was not SL biggest fan but I cannot imagine anyone

who has seen more than 5 minutes of football would consistently pick Da Costa and Diakhaby ahead of him based on merit. Whatever the case maybe, it's unlikely he'll play for Forest again.

What is clear, is 2020 was a turning point. Go back to 2019 and we had Geddy, Benny, Carvalho all players who play with the head up willing to move forward either sold or frozen out in favour of lads (who no fault of their own) prefer to play without the ball.

Centre midfield remains a problem for us both in style and personnel. It's the area of the pitch that seems to have the most options but the least quality.

Question is: would a midfield of Carvalho, Johnson and McGuane be as good as Yates, Sow and Cafu?

Unfortunately the brawn would beat the brain. However a combination would be even better: Carvalho (or Johnson) allied with Sow and Cafu might be quite good.

In some games I'd agree.. However, we've all seen enough games this past year when midfields of Ronnie Corbett sized players have played us off the park. I can't remember seeing any big brawn in the Barnsley midfield and they outplay us, all the time, every time.

I agree though. Two good ball players and one committed clogger would be a good combo.. certainly more dynamic than the three we go with now who look petrified to have the ball at their feet

Going to Hajduk Split according to John Percy.
Update to this, his agent has denied that he's going to Hajduk in this article:

"None of that. We have several offers from abroad that we are considering in agreement with Benfica and West Brom. The situation is quite complicated due to the loan agreement between these two clubs, but we will know more in a few days.Filip is not going to Hajduk."

It'll be a rare miss if Percy has got it wrong.

Meh. Will probably be alright in the short-term but I was hoping we'd sign someone with half an eye on next season.

In our current situation, I guess beggars can't be choosers.

I'd fiercely argue that taking care of this season should be the sole priority recruitment-wise.

If signing this lad on loan helps with that goal, then that should be the main aim.
