Fawaz's 3 Biggest Successes...

Kelvin's Local

Jack Armstrong
Bit harder to write, but here we go:

3) Owning Up to his Mistake and Ending the Davies/Jim Circus:
Say what you want about Fawaz, but he doesn't hide behind excuses. He gave Davies all he needed to succeed but he still took the piss. Getting rid of him took balls but it was absolutely the right decision.

2) Refreshing the City Ground:
It was looking a bit dour before he turned up but he's cleaned the Trent End, installed the advertising boards and brought in excellent TV screens. The old dear seems a little more alive these days.

1) The Lascelles/Darlow/Antonio/Assombalonga deals:
A genuinely brilliant bit of business. You sell two players for deals that now look like daylight robbery, get to keep them both for a year for free and then use the money received to go out and sign the best midfielder in the league and one of the best strikers.

2. Refurb of the City Ground.
3. Quickly admitting McLeish was a disaster.

Being a nice bloke
Giving manager's a silly amount of cash to spend (may also be a downfall)
Restraining himself from taking the manager's job

1) Investment in the squad (Djebbour and Abdoun belong in the other thread)
2) It's not boring
3) Sacking BD (hiring him needs to go in the other thread)

I think the refreshing of the City Ground has been one of his best moves, the electronic boards look great.

I'd say one of his biggest successes was the first few months of the Pearce hiring, I truly felt as a Forest fan on cloud 9 and it was Fawaz that gave us that.

The Assombalonga signing was a good one, although he didn't pay for him for quite some time, although the Antonio signing was a brilliant one.
I don't like how we credit Fawaz with these signings though, surely the managers are the ones that operate the scoutings and receive feedback from them and target who they want.

There are a few that I could list, but the hiring of Pearce is number one for me.
Yes it didn't work out. But that pre-season and the first home game I was so full of optimism and hope. To see a true legend back at the city ground. f*** yeah I teared up when he walked out of the tunnel.

1) Hiring 3 good managers perfectly capable of moving us forward as a club.

2) Putting his money where his mouth is in terms of financial backing.

3) That pic with the Derby flag.

1) Putting money into the ground and training facilities.

2) Giving each manager (except Freedman) a relatively large pot of money to spend, which we are now paying for but the intention was good.

3) Can't think of anything else.

Reserve judgement on this. We may well start off the season without any of them and the resulting embargo makes it a lot tougher to bulk up what could be a threadbare squad if player are sold and injuries are still a factor.

Sacking Billy Davies is never in a million years a success, we've done f*** all before or since in terms of challenging.

The only thing I thank Fawaz for is his deep pockets. He's a naive chairman at best.

You've posted this in the wrong Fawaz thread.

Cash is King!
Some good points.
Personally I'd like to see him invest more into the infrastructure, there is a lot of untapped potential with the ground and he would reap the rewards later on.

The more we stall on progressing towards the premiership, the further detached Fawaz seems to become with "building the brand". If this was a priority then surely a CEO would be in place.

Where's me hammer?
I have a feeling that some points may be in both threads depending on who's posting them. I have a feeling both appointing and sacking Pearce may be in both without even looking.
Sacking billy will be in both to

Well, I'm not sure if a CEO undermines his control, in his thinking.

But that aside, there is revenue the club are missing out on and I can't understand why Fawaz doesn't invest in this area. For example; Watford were building a new stand long before they got promoted, as were Bristol City, why wait to improve the ground and its facilities? I'm sick of hearing this 'when we get to the Prem', it doesn't hold other ambitious clubs back. Or maybe we aren't that ambitious?
He stated he doesn't want to move so let's get on with it and go forward.

What on earth is corny about that post? He's just stating a fact!

"Challenging for what?"....... Deary me

Backed to the hilt by two different owners, two abject failures. The sum of all his efforts and money spent, limping into two play offs, where two abject surrenders followed, oh sorry, I forgot the magnificent display against ten men Swansea, played at the City Ground where Swansea down to ten men for 89 minutes were held to a draw.
