Evangelos Marinakis Megathread!

Cooper needs a result and quick. Rightly or wrongly, he'll be under massive pressure after that second half.
It just goes to show how stupid football is.
I mean how long did it take to find the next promotion achieving manager after Basset?. 25 years?.
Sacking Coops and wait for another 25 years seems about right, and who would come in-someone like Sean Dyche probably and all the tactical nous, nuance and player development would be down the shitter in 2 minutes....

I want Steve to sign his contract and become part of this club for a long, long time. You do Sean Dyche a massive disservice though.

I don't to be brutal but EM would deserve all he get's if he decided to start going back to the scatter gun approach of players and manager's and not sticking to the plan and process after a few bad results.

I don't think he will.
What happens if we are in the bottom 2 at Christmas is another matter....

Cooper shouldn't go anywhere.

As for Dyche, he'd need another squad signing.

Has EM been spending money on these players though? Or has the club just been offsetting Premier League revenues against these transfer fees?

Now I know sod all about football but even I would doubt whenever we buy a player the selling club gives a Evangelos a card machine to which he presents his platinum credit card and waits for the acceptance beep.

He's impatient, perhaps, but he isn't stupid.

My (limited) understanding is that a team gets roughly £100m for simply being in the Prem, even if they finish bottom.

The '180m' that's often trotted out is because you get 80m of parachute payments should you go staight back down, which I think is paid as 40m, 30m and 10m across 3 seasons respectively. Could have got all that completely wrong to be fair though.

If that's true then Marinakis has had to 'find' an extra 50m-ish from somewhere as well as the increased wages, agents fees etc. Owners have a bit more leeway though in the PL as to what they can put in compared to the EFL.

Coop’s learning curve.

Wow, you learn something every day. Who'd have known.

You do know that was a joke, right?

Dyche is a very good manager, I’d imagine about 8/9 teams in this league would be interested in him should they find themselves looking for a manager.
Yes but would he be right for this squad?. I don't think so.
And although I think we need to be tougher, more physical and perhaps even a bit more direct at the moment while we find our feet I don't want to watch Dyche-ball thank you very much...

If the worst was to happen and EM did sack Cooper then I'd take Dyche in a heartbeat. Though I suspect Dyche would probably not be too keen given that better opportunities will become available at some point (i.e. Aston Villa when they bin Gerrard).

Not really any other good managers available at the moment that spring to mind, so I dread to think who we'd appoint if Cooper was to leave.

Rather go down with Coops and actually have a chance of a promising future rather than 5 years of Dyche-ball and 16th every season in the PL
To be fair, Dyche did really well without much proper backing and took Burnley to the Europa League not too long ago.

He initially got them a surprise promotion and went down first time, before taking them back up and establishing them in the Premier League.

Like Burnley did with Dyche when he got relegated first time around, Forest should stick with Cooper if we go down and back him to take us back up. I hope the club can see the bigger picture, and won't be as reactionary as I fear they might be.

The problem Ashley is the size of the Casino token Marinakis has thrown on the Roulette wheel.
Burnley were playing on the slot machines.....

How many players came BECAUSE of Cooper and his connections/history/vision? Admittedly the vision isn’t working out yet but if he goes, I’d imagine we’d have some disillusioned players on our hands.
Keep the faith even if we do end up looking like we’re heading down. It’d be hard but he’ll get us back up in a season if we kept just half the squad he’s assembled.

There's little chance of Cooper staying unless he ditches Yates and Colback. Same probably goes for last season's back three too.

But the reverse is also true when players sit on the bench or in the stand who know they can do a better job than the ones out there? How disilusioning is that?
Cooper puts a lot of store on loyalty being a two way street, which is fair enough, but when the defence has leaked eleven goals in three matches and there are experienced prem defenders in the squad not playing then maybe loyalty has reached its limits?
Don't get me wrong at this point we need to keep faith with Cooper but he needs to pull this one together before too long.

No matter how well the team plays, every player on the bench should feel that they could improve things on the field if they were brought on or what's the point them being there?

I don’t think anybody on here has lost faith in Cooper, it’s more people realising it’s inevitable if we have a few more days like yesterday.
