Evangelos Marinakis Megathread!

New rumours that EM is interested in buying a Ligue 2 club. For the time being I'm not bying them. I remind you, however, that he was on the verge of bying Troyes a few years ago, but the deal did not come through, and a couple of years later the consortium owing Manchester City bought them.

Wouldn't surprise me. Would help get around a few work permit issues for the UK, but, also, give a landing ground for player development.

Nimes, Dijon, Valenciennes.

Not red and white, but I hope he buys Le Havre. They have one of the best youth setups in France.

Valenciennes fans don't like their owner, so they could be a good option. Le Havre are a bloody good club though.

Le Havre AC was founded by British residents in the city, and the club's official anthem is sung in the tune of God save the Queen.

I went to watch Forest play at Le Havre about 15-18 years ago. We were 3 out of about 5 Forest fans in a crowd of 15,000. Didn’t stop us standing on our seats singing all game. Hell of a journey, overnight ferry. Rained all day, so had to stay in a bar the whole day.

Mention of Le Havre always reminds me of Mathew Louis Jean, good player.

Also its the club where Ateef Konate came to us from.

Wait till that Luke Phelps off twitter hears. It’ll go on his corruption exposé

Seems that Mr Phelps has disappeared from Twitter. Perhaps some of his libellous comments have come back to bite him on the arse.

Anyone else think the trumpeting big spends this summer was the stupidest most neive thing?.
Every quoted fee seems through the roof, contract negotiations get sticky (Brice) because everyone starts to think everyone else is getting something they are not…
Doesn’t strike me as the mark of an Uber businessman

where did you here that he will spend big? i am trying to find it and still cannot.

he said that he will invest in order to not be a yoyo club.

he said
“Now is the time to give Steve all the ammunition he needs, to be able to not only survive but bring some good results,”

“We have to invest more. Everybody talks about the television rights and money that comes in, but it is not enough for clubs in the first year.
That’s why we must not be the poorer relatives of the Premier League. We need to buy some good players and some that will make the difference and have the experience who know the division.”
