Would really like to do the whole tournament in Germany,

see the historical places, eat the food which I’m told is very good, absorb the culture, and see England perform well,

Make it the trip of a lifetime :)

Is that a joke? I'm sorry I can't see it.

Pipe dream must admit, I think the hysterical rambling’s from the Derby fans about CK’s takeover has rubbed off on me , I now realise that chances are England would be back home before the postcards going on previous performance’s :(

Euro 2024 will have 230 games (excluding playoffs) over 18 months to reduce 53 teams to 24, then a further 36 games over 2 weeks to reduce 24 teams to 16, at which point it becomes a knockout tournament. It's not hard to tell that UEFA are organising this and not the Germans.

Am I being selfish, hoping England get drawn to play games in Stuttgart?

How do England and Italy manage to be in the same group? Which of us is considered to be lower than Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Poland, Croatia and Denmark? Assume it must be Italy, but the way it's shown suggests it's us?
As Rigler says, its us because we were bottom of our group (well, we were demoted to tier B)

But, on the other side, you can see why management/players are not arsed aboutvthe Nations League, because the impact on the key tournaments is negligible.

Group A: Spain and Norway (you'd have to think with Odegaard and Haaland Norway would have too much but wouldn't be surprised to see Scotland battle their way to second place either)

Group B: France and Netherlands. Would be shocked if this group goes any other way.

Group C: England and Italy.

Group D: Croatia and I'll go for Turkey beating Wales to second place. Sorry Wales.

Group E: Poland and Czech Republic.

Group F: I'll go for a shock in Austria and Sweden making it and Belgium missing out.

Group G: Hungary and Serbia.

Group H: Denmark and Finland or Northern Ireland.

Group I: Switzerland and Israel.

Group J: Portugal and Slovakia.

I'm planning to drive and stop on the way to visit some of the places that made me the man I am today.

The on to Stummer's. Probably to sleep in the car. I've never been much good at planning.

I’m going round his but I’m likely to switch sides depending on how things are going.

Will those knocking shops still be around all these years later?? 😮
From the reminiscing VP has done before on here about his time in Hamburg, I can only suggest they’ve probably gone from strength to strength.

Remember of course, such premises - and the services they offer - are entirely legal here in Germany.

Anyway, UEFA has announced the „official“ names for each tournament venue; of course, stadia with commercial-partner names are banned during the competition and have to revert to a neutral, non-commercial name:

• Olympiastadion Berlin
• Cologne Stadium
• BVB Stadion Dortmund
• Düsseldorf Arena
• Frankfurt Arena
• Arena Auf Schalke
• Volksparkstadion Hamburg
• Leipzig Stadium
• Munich Football Arena
• Stuttgart Arena

Some proper rotters there, mixing English and German („Cologne Stadium“?)

UEFA proposed to use the traditional names of stadiums from the pre-commerical era, such as Waldstadion Frankfurt, Neckarstadion Stuttgart or Zentralstadion Leipzig, but the clubs, mainly FC Köln, VfB Stuttgart and Lawn Ball Sport Leipzig, apparently rejected this, because it might cause uproar amongst fans because those stadiums could have their „real“ (or former) names during the Euros, but not for Bundesliga matches (and of course, naming rights are all about money).

The Berlin Olympiastadion and Hamburg‘s Volksparkstadion have never had a commercial sponsor though; and luckily, UEFA didn’t decide to choose the original name for Stuttgart‘s home, which, when opened in 1933, was known as the Adolf-Hitler-Kampfbahn.

Bullet dodged, there.

Anyone had much experience of going to a tournament? Never been before and think I can get tickets but I do work an old 9-5. Have no idea how it would work with time off and cost.
