England v Denmark

Don't wanna sound like a moaning old git, but what the f*** is that colour scheme on that ball about? It looks like one of the kids balls you buy from outside a paper shop at Skeggy.

Best ones were the ones with old division one teams on it

Absolute shit.

England are nowhere good enough to compete on the international stage.

Not that we've ever been a good team (one very lucky win on home soil puts on about the same level as Greece).

Even Sturridge? How many goals has he got this season?

How many goals did Andy Cole score for his clubs? He was poor for England. Sturridge's general play has been woeful every time I've seen him. His control and technique are poor and if anybody else gave the ball away as much as he did they'd start a petition to get him out the squad... if we want someone who'll just score the odd tap in we might as well stick with Defoe, who is far better at it. If we had Suarez instead of Rooney fair enough but Sturridge/Rooney hasn't worked really has it?

Wasn't surprised things started happening when Lalana and Welbeck came on and actually made intelligent movements, played with urgency and intent.

It's a shame because when injuries meant we had Lambert, Welbeck and Townsend in the side England actually started to look bright, but now we're shoehorning the names like Sturridge, Rooney and Wilshere into a predetermined system, we struggle to even have a shot on target against a team who didn't qualify for the World Cup.

I really want to give my all to supporting England but I find it hard to when Gerrard and Rooney are in the team. It's so dull and predictable. It's a bit pathetic relying on Gerrard pinging his 50 yard passes out to the full back to cross to nobody or hoping for a corner or a free kick, because Rooney scores so many of those right.

Ah well, still looking forward to the World Cup, there will be some exciting games, a glimmer of hope and there will be some inevitable disappointment, standard!

Rooney wants to be all over the pitch. He can't save his energy for when he needs it to hurt the opposition.

One of the first things I noticed him do tonight was defending right down near the corner flag, and it wasn't as if he was covering for a out of position full back who had bombed forward, Ashley Cole was there too, as were all the back four.

If he keeps doing that in the heat of Brazil, he'll be too knackered to offer any kind of attacking threat.

Maybe he saw Nick Clegg in the crowd?

Sturridge is on his way to being a class act.

The player stinking out the place is the highest paid one.

This team, bar Gerrard and Cole will pretty much be the Euro 16 team. So slag them off or get behind Roy playing the yoofs

Add Ross Barkley in there and Kyle Walker is far better than Glen Johnson for me. We're desperately in need of some quality centre backs though.

The two games we looked 'bright' in were the must win qualifiers v Montenegro and Poland. Rooney, Sturridge and Gerrard played in both of those games.

Although I don't know why Roy has tried to change the shape, trying to crowbar Rooney and Sturridge into a 4-3-3, where one of them has to play wide isn't going to work. Especially when Rooney is as laborious as he was tonight, Wilshere too needs to find a change of pace.

Love the look of Lallana, his name sounds a bit continental and he offers us that type of creative, fluid spark that England lack.

The 4-3-3 was played as it works for Sturridge and Sterling at Liverpool.

Just wish they had another game soon to tweak it a bit more.

Suarez doesn't really drop as drop as Rooney does he? That's maybe why it didn't work so well. Sterling and Sturridge had plenty of the ball but often too few options and runners to pass to. Shaw made a big difference and him and Sterling linked up a few times. Maybe I'm reading too much into a friendly.

They also have Suarez, who does a lot of the donkey work filling in on the flank.

If you want to play that way, then drop Rooney.

I think it would work better with Sturridge central and Lallana, Sterling wide.

But it would take massive testicles to drop Rooney.

As did Townsend, Welbeck and Baines who were the outstanding players in those games.
