I just hope everyone remembers he's a young coach and still learning. Please can we give someone the time to sort the team and themselves out.

This, we ve got to give somebody, somewhere time otherwise the cycle starts again

When mark "whos shit in my kitbag?" Lawrenson is taking the piss but actually talking complete sense its time to take stock and address.

Some of you take some blinkers off.

Davies produced dull boring sides, despite being backed to the hilt by two club owners, he failed, not only failed, but wreaked his own level of destruction on the club, like some insane male dominatrix or what ever they are called, yet still sections of the fan base wish to use his shite as toothpaste and lie down to be treated as a bitch by him.

He's gone thank God, get over it.

I never found them dull or boring some of the best football I've watched at Forest for years was under Billy. You got your boring football on occasion too but it wasn't completely one way or the other almost in equal measure.

No doubt Davies is a very good manager, especially at this level - it's just a shame he's a paranoid psychopath.

If Dougie gets this team playing as well as Davies could then he would have done a good job. Freedman is a good man and is well respected, so hopefully it will work out. Seems very honest in his assessments of the team and situation also, I particularly liked the fact he took the blame for the set pieces.

I'm glad he didn't blame the players either. He took the pressure away from them by blaming himself, which was really sensible and good to hear.

I wasn't much of a fan of Davies, but some of the football we played under him was a joy to watch. In comparison to the rubbish we've endured this season, last season was like watching Barcelona.

He might get cut a tiny bit of slack for this season but the poor bastard will have it start around mid October if we're not 10 points clear at the top beating everyone by 2 or more clear goals and yesterdays win will be dismissed as a lucky win under new manager syndrome.

He'll be treated like Billy Davies at some point, no doubt about it. Then we'll hound him out for being Scottish and a non-Forest man.

Even though we want stability.

His name will be banned on this site, any thread with 'Dougie Freedman' in the title will be started by a suspected troll, and we'll try to justify it all to ourselves by exaggerating the extent to which he 'destroyed our club'!!!!

Ignoring the managers, on the whole and not during our worst injury crisis in 30 years, last seasons football was leagues ahead of what we've seen this season.

If Freedman only takes us halfway back to that standard I'll be grateful.
Incidentally, I'd say Warnock at Sheff U played footy very much on par with this seasons. It was more effective, but stylistically very similar.

I don't know how you can have any fond memories of last season other than perhaps the West Ham game.
Proof positive that you should never go back.

Takings cups out of the equation....

14 league games unbeaten in a row.

Only 4 league losses up 'til the end of February when injuries kicked in and we had to rely on Greening and Jara in midfield and a bit part defence.

Leicester away. 2-0 win. Great example of how to make your own luck and win a game of football by having great spirit in the camp and teamwork.
Derby home. 1-0 win. Hobbs header. Bragging rights.
Brighton away. 3-1 win. Great comeback and good football.
QPR home. 2-0 win. Live game on Sky. Halford up front and we still played great stuff. Reid's 'not offside' goal capping it all off.
Leeds home. 2-1 win. Matt Derbyshire scoring a cracking long distance winner.
Blackburn home. 4-1 win. Some of the best football I've seen us play in a long while.
Watford home. 4-2 win. Live on Sky TV again. Another great performance with Moussi in midfield setting up our first goal to bring the score to 1-2. This was when injuries were first beginning to hit us but we still showed enough strength in character to comeback from 0-2 down.
Huddersfield away. 3-0 win. Another great display of football.

Look at the team-sheets back then and the names of some of those players compared to this year. Can people not just be fair and give Davies the credit he deserves, 'manager' wise. Not as a person.

Freedman slagged us off earlier in the season and I'm fairly sure he's previous for that, although I can't find it.

Add in the fact he'd been lined up to replace Pearce before the match and I simply can't get behind him.

EDIT: And he's short and Scottish so there's that too.

Proof in point that some Forest fans are stupid beyond belief. Hardly his fault that the CLUB lined him up before THEY sacked Pearce.

The 2-2 against Leicester at home was also an excellent performance, despite injuries beginning to bite.

Pretty much what the other lads have responded. It had it's lows, but overall I quite enjoyed it and thought the football itself was at times enjoyable. Far more so than this year.

Until Feb time last season when all the injuries accumulated I never felt that we were out of a game. I think we'd scored in almost every game up to around this point, and even when we were behind I felt confident we'd give it a go.

This year the second we've gone behind it's felt and usually been game over for the majority of matches.

The atmosphere's what's saved this season mind.

As far as im concerned my view with Pearce was that he deserved to be afforded time to make his mark and establish himself and his direction upon the Club. He wasn't but I understand why.

Same rules apply with Freedman in my mind. I won't be calling for his head. He has presented himself well this week, he has displayed quiet confidence without excessive ego. I'm impressed with his manner and wish him well.

Nice to see Steve Sutton in the dug out too. Great keeper.

Have you forgotten that performance against West Brom? We were a joy to watch that night.

At it's best, some of the football played under Davies in both stints was some of the finest we have seen in the last 20 years. Particularly when we played with pace, attacked in waves, and used the wings. Exactly the style of football I like best.

Where his style failed was the inability to close a game down by keeping possession.

Unfortunately everything else about Davies was wrong, including his inability to find the right players to suit his style of play without spending a fortune.

Oh, and he was a prize £@&t.

To use an Alf-esque analogy - if you've only had one good shag in the last five years, chances are you're still gonna be thinking/talking about it until you have another

Still talking about Davies? Really?

When people criticise him as a manager I can't help but get involved. As a person, we know he's a fruitcake but to allow his personality to cloud everything good that he did for our teams on the pitch is really weird for me.

People are trying to sweep it under the carpet or downplay how well he had our teams organised and the team spirit he generated, like it didn't even happen. It was all a bad dream. Where is the harm in a little acknowledgement? Will it really kill people inside?

Just gets boring after a year. It's like arguing about marmite. People will never agree.
