Don't see why not, plenty of coaches out there.

Maybe not overnight but we should be able to fill those roles pretty quickly.

Yeah lets fill those roles with shit.. Why the f*** can't people grasp that it takes time to get the RIGHT people for the RIGHT ROLES?

So we advertise the roles and conduct interviews, same with any other job.

I agree it's not ideal but saying that having five coaching vacancies is as good as having a "death warrant" is just ridiculous and unhelpful.

Has he gone yet? Only I hear there's no longer a nameplate on the manager's door, just a pad of post-it notes..

Because most people's experience of running a football club is a computer game where you can just press a button and get a top manager and coach in.

Bolton had just been relegated, hadn't they? They were a bonafide Prem club for years, so he probably thought it was an upgrade from a Palace team that had previously been relegation favourites

Anyone know exactly why he joined Bolton?

I read somewhere that he was managing the whole club at Palace and had little time to do things on pitch - at Bolton he was promised he would be able to focus his attentions on the on the pitch matters - instead of the whole club (it turned out to be a false promise anyway).

I don't know why but I have a gut feeling this will work out.

He knows there is massive potential here and will be hungry to make it work. He's not another Warnock that can just walk into the next job, this appointment is a bit of a make or break deal for him.

Which takes time, which is something we don't have.

We have a number of qualified coaches who can fill the gaps temporarily.

Likewise, I imagine Freedman has people he knows and contacts who would be ready to come work for him. Didn't people follow him from Palace to Bolton?

I find it ridiculous that people think that the coaching staff leaving is a complete nightmare that can't be resolved quite easily.

We've gone down the route of making a change because what we have had has not been good enough. You could quite easily argue that the coaching staff were a big part of what was wrong and the change was required anyway.

There's some things that have happened which have been bad and unideal to say the least. The coaching staff following the manager out the door is far, far from top of that list!

We will see, but the impression i'm getting is that it's not going to be as simple as you make out.

I'm of the view that SP's coaches have been a key part of the problem. They're used to a development role, not coaching a squad in the second division. Only the GK coach, Flowers, is a loss.

But why there are a number of managers that have to recruit a back room team remarkably quickly and they manage too.

You either have your own men that you take in with you or you have your men that stick at clubs for a long period of time once they are brought in I am sure there are some knocking around that will quite happily take the job on. Think Kelly and Hasselbaink here for example.

I find it staggering that people are baffled that a new manager will want to bring in his own backroom.

It's commonplace in football and even the last Scottish manager we had brought in his entourage.

Clough and Taylor; Ferguson and Kidd/McClaren/Queiroz, football is full of coaches who work well as a team and working with what's already there doesn't always work as sometimes the coaching staff can be at fault not the manager. Did having Rob Kelly here for so long (who was assistant to McClaren, Cotterill, SO'D, McLeish and Davies) help us or not?

Im hoping we have already got some things sorted but arent anouncing them yet for whatever reason. The Freedman/Pearce swap seems to have been on the cards for a while now, even if it was only excecuted yesterday. I hope someone has been looking into the potential backroom staff.

Weren't we saying exactly the same things about Stuart Pearce?
