Hopefully there's no disagreement that, whatever the terms of the loan, having him for the season will be of great benefit to Forest

I don't disagree with that on face value Ray, but I honestly think we need to be looking at the next 2 years not the next one and another loan saga with a player who does very well, but isn't ours and is immaterial for 23/24 is a problem if not a disaster as far as I am concerned. We need to be building out identity and culture as a club to have any chance as a prem side and loaning this lad doesn't do that....

Next season is all about survival and establishing ourselves in the premier League first and foremost. If we can do that, we have 1 year to find a suitable replacement for Henderson.

I think we need to be realistic though and realise that we have a lot of bodies to bring in (minimum 10 IMO) and whilst we have a few quid now, we are the poorest rich club in the league. Getting everyone in we want, on permanent deals, that have the quality required may only be possible with a few loanees as well.

It's pretty common practise even for clubs established in the top flight nevermind one coming up with no parachute payments and basically half a squad like us.

Every year we survive we add £120m to the kitty. If it means slowly building then so be it, we can't spend all our money in this window.

This is a problem we didn't need, a loan solves it relatively worry free. GK is hugely important position, and this guy is good enough.

the best example for forest to follow is leicester , in their first season in the premier league , their best and most influential player on the field was a free signing - Esteban Cambiasso who only stayed for 1 season but played a hugely influential role in them staying up. Once they had a foothold and their team adapted , they went on to win the league the next season and has now established themselves very much as a top tier premier league club who has played in europe and won the fa cup , not just to survive like a lot of championship clubs who yoyo between championship and the premier league.

That's great all that money.

I hope Forest look after our mentally exhausted battle weary brilliant supporters.

A “few” loanees?. We can only have 2….

From the Premier League website:
Loans between Premier League clubs and other English counterparts are officially called temporary transfers.

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2021/22 (Download PDF, size: 21.6MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.
So the way I read that we could have a squad made up entirely of loanees from foreign clubs if we wanted

You can't have more than 2 at once from anywhere.

You can have 4 over a season, but need to send 2 back for the other 2 to be registered.

Villa had 3 last season, but no more than 2 at once. Tuanzebe went back before Olsen arrived.

But the rules I quoted there say that loans from other countries don't count towards those quotas? Unless I'm reading it wrong?

You can only have two domestic loans, but if you look at Norwich last year they had 4 loanees for the whole season; two were from outside England (Russia and Germany). So loans from other country's league are allowed on top of the two domestic cap.

The fee would reportedly be £20m but United had baulked over such a clause and were keen on a straight loan. Nottinghamshire Live understands an option to buy the England international is now back on the negotiating table though as talks continue, suggesting the Premier League giants could shift their position.

A report in The Sun this morning said Samba had been offered a new deal on the same terms, but Nottinghamshire Live understands there is frustration over the report at Forest.
It is understood a second aspect of the report saying the Reds will pay Henderson's salary, which is claimed to be £100,000-plus per week, in full is wide of the mark.

In all honesty I don't understand why MU are bothered about a buy option-either the lad is going to get a game for them at some point or he isn't and the evidence suggests not. In which case let him go-I mean its not as if its going to be hard for them to find another keeper next season if they want one and lets face it if the lad felt he was in with a chance there he wouldn't be jumping ship to us would he?!

Seems to me that all journalists are just somewhere on the Nixon scale.
Blame social media - in the good ol' days we had a deadline of the evening edition or the next issue or the next bulletin which could be hours away but now with all the platforms and the ability to type a tweet as you talk to a "source" it means that stuff that we would never have written or put out in the past without corroboration or confirmation is now just thrown into the ether of the internet with barely a thought.

A lot of it is face saving so they can actually make a bit of money if he does leave.

From what I can tell, he got married this weekend, so we will probably make a bit of progress in the deal over the next couple of days.
