Yes Calv, that is exactly it…

Henderson will be a great signing whether he comes on loan or permanent. I’d just prefer for Forest to build for the longer term. Loans have their place, but I’d rather avoid yearly rebuilding jobs in key positions, as we are seeing this summer after losing our two most creative midfielders, influential right wing back and starting centre forward.

I trust Cooper and Dane to make the right calls this summer either way.

Going to leave it at that as I can’t be arsed going around the houses.
To a large degree I agree with you. And because we are limited to loans in the PL, we have to be far more clever with the loans than we had to be in the Championship. As a team with no parachute payments we had to rely on loans, excellent recruitment and superb management to succeed.
Now we're in the PL we have more money to spend, but we're still very much the paupers of the league. We'll need to use every available resource to be competitive.

We all would prefer that but the reality is establishing yourself in the PL is hard as f*** but if you can do it then it gets easier and easier to sign the type of players we'd all like.

Someone like KLP is realistically never coming to us, why would he over a Palace, Southampton or even a Fulham let alone West Ham?

Stay up a year or three and the next KLP would love to.

We've a huge rebuild needed so getting a proven keeper at this level for f*** all, with a clause to buy if we like is a massive step forward.

It also frees up budget for other positions.

This is the very definition of a no lose deal.

Just been on the man united forum apparently his on 110k a week, I know it has been suggested man u will subsidise wages but even half of that completely blow away our wage structure. That can be right can it?

We could also negotiate in the winter transfer window and buy him then if it's going so well, freeing up another loan slot for the rest of the season

Forums are nothing but irrefutable objective fact. You just have read Ryan Yates' thread for proof of that

Yeah that’s about right. Average wage in the PL is about 60k nowadays, so I imagine that our top earners will be on around that from now on, probably with relegation wage drop clauses.

Crazy that anyone would turn their nose up at an England goalkeeper with prior experience of keeping a newly-promoted team up, just because there might be no option.

We need like 12 players this summer. Even if we need to buy a new keeper next summer, it will one of about 5 signings, not 12.

Absolute no-brainer to get this lad through the door, option or not.

I think people are just concerned because it's a loan and loan spaces are incredibly limited in the PL and we did have Samba to start the season which I think most people would have been happy enough about.

But if this is what we do in a position where we were happy, imagine what we will be doing in positions of need?

It sets the tone and Henderson can’t be far off the best keeper we could realistically get at this stage. If that’s on loan only, so be it.

It also means we’ll be buying players elsewhere so we need fewer signings next summer. It’s not like we are not going to sign a left wing-back because we used a loan spot on a GK.

Complaining about loans when loans just got us into the Premier league is very odd.

I appreciate the desire to have our own players, but that has to be a long term goal that comes with stability and success. And loans help us get there. When we're a proven top ten Premier league team we can start turning our nose up at loans.

The style coops plays requires a keeper to be good with his feet and have excellent and quick distribution.

I havent seen enough of Henderson to know if he fits into that category.

You would imagine he does exactly what SC wants.

maybe get the loan done, so the lad can join us for the start of pre-season, and continue talking about the option to buy and amend the contract. before the window closes if a deal can be done.

I wonder if this is anything to do with Samba's injury at the end of last season.
Either worse that was thought or not healed in time for the start of the new season ?
