Danilo dos Santos de Oliveira

Sounds like he wasn't very good yesterday? I've only seen the highlights, it was an absolutely wicked whipped cross for Yates' header that he should have buried.
Indifferent I'd say - shipped possession a few times but also pinged a couple of worldies. Was the most progressive of our deeper midfielders but got some basics wrong on occasion.

I like Danilo - he's just a really likeable lad who you want to see do well. Great do for the Blackpool game too... like that.

Football wise I thought we saw all sides to him last night - yes he's raw (and still can't head a looping ball for toffee), but he doesn't half cover ground, is forward thinking and, when he gets it right, he impacts games at both ends of the pitch.

30 games played for us now - and at 22 years old following a move from a different continent I'd say he's doing rather well. I wonder if we need to be a bit more accepting that he won't always get it right though - when you try to play forward passes from CDM as much as he is your hit rate won't be as high as say Mangala (who is more comfortable to keep the move going).

But as he showed last night, keep the faith and his work will pay off - was he involved in all three goals or just the last two?

(Might have a look for his passing stats actually...)

He's doing exactly what I expect of a young player - Playing inconsistently and having peaks and troughs. Same with Murillo but to a lesser extent.

You can see why Nuno is persisting with him, but it does seem a little high risk at the moment. Most of his passes last night were underhit.

Long term progression wise the goal with him has to be that he can continue to increase his output so his stats are in line with his time in Brazil - his passing stats were in the high 80s - low 90s for short and medium and around 70 for long there. Different league but if he can fully adapt his game he'd be a hell of a player given his ability to impact in the final third.

Interestingly fbref have his medium range passing this season at over 90% which is higher than I expected. Brentford fans will enjoy his goal output being significantly higher than his xg, the twats.

His energy levels last night were remarkable. The quickest upfield and no slouch in getting back either. Always looking to be positive too.

You can see why Nuno likes him.

He was walking off fine and laughing away so I reckon he’ll be ok.
Probably just happy to be getting the f*** out of Blackpool, to be fair.

Nice to see Danilo get a goal last night. Maybe this is what he needed to start recapturing the form shown at the end of last season.

It was an odd performance from him last night I thought. At times he looked awful, poor passing and getting caught on the ball...whereas his overall drive and energy were vital in us getting the win. If he can improve his consistency we have a player on our hands. We're all rooting for the lad.

I had to check which thread I was in, as this read exactly like I was in the Ryan Yates thread.

Has anything been mentioned about the injury he appear to pick up at the very end?
Think it was more cramp/tiredness related than anything.

he was caught on the ball/lost posession a record 20+ times, the blackpool midfielders especially their no. 6 does seemed to handle danilo fairly easily.

He still seems very raw, which is probably a surprise. I would say he’s a very talented player. Hopeful he gets coached up well.

I'm pretty much in agreement with most people here. Really like the player but he looks very ungainly at times on the ball. CHO looks the same to me, like he has lost his dribbling ability or he's become Paulo Wanchope. Danilo works really hard and he'll come good again I am sure.

His best game since his strong run of form last season. Still has moments where he's a bit untidy but much better in possession. Great goal too.
