Conor Coady

Actually saw a stat on Twitter that Coady won 12% of his aerial duels & 13% of his tackles this season and had to look whether it was actually true or not. Turns out it was, and this does not paint a good picture of Coady at all.

For comparison, here is the OP Felipe:

We have a very good defender...

Here is what a normal defender looks like, Joe Worralls:

If only he played more in a back 3. He's an expert there.

Going to Leicester for £7.5m rising to £8.5m if they get promoted. Suppose it won't seem like massive money if they do go up but christ...

Edit: they're also paying £10m for Winks which is ridiculous.
Apparently Everton had an option of £4.5m so it's even worse business.

Take back what I said about this being a good signing for Leicester. £7.5m is a horrendous fee for someone Coady's age.

What website do you use to get these stats mate? I've got to pretend to work today and wouldn't mind poking around.

Looks like Leicester are putting all their chips on black to get back to the Prem.
Financial Armageddon if they fail. Should make for an interesting championship.
Yep, parachute payments already swallowed up by that loan and half the Maddison money already spent on Coady and Winks. Feels a bit like the old shit or bust approach.

Boly and felipe look like absolute steals compared to coady at 7.5 million!
Felipe is a handsome bastard as well, whereas Coady looks a right munter.

That is a lot of money for a 30 year old centre half who can only play basically as a sweeper in a back 3.

I genuinely thought he might be a couple of million or something like that.

Apparently Everton could have had him for £4.5m a week ago, so I dunno who negotiated the deal on Leicester's behalf.

Same; I initially thought it would be a good signing for them based on the fact that I thought the fee would be something more sensible like £2-3m. £7.5m changes my perception on this drastically though. Wolves laughing all the way to the bank.

May have allowed for a loan fee? Either way it’s very steep for essentially a not very good defender!

Google a players name & fbref - comes up with a full summary like that.
And remember those are percentiles not actual numbers! (Not that you wouldn't with a username like that and a picture of Alan Johnson...)

His success rate isn't as bad as those percentages (if you open up the full 'scouting report' it gives you more detail) but he ranks terribly for a centre back. https://fbref.com/en/players/2928dca2/scout/365_m1/Conor-Coady-Scouting-Report

As I said earlier in the thread, he's a central defender that doesn't do any defending. He'll sweep up, do a lot of pointing and clapping and probably see a lot of the ball. He'll probably do very well for Leicester, especially if he plays with Souttar who'll head everything but that's a lot of money.
