Saw someone mentioning this in the summer transfer thread, but now its from a reputed journalistic source

Ok, I may have stretched the definition of reputed or even journalism!

Oh and its a No from me. Doesn't help us at all. Would rather add some pace at the back if someone quality comes available.

Simon Jones is going to be this summer's Wayne Veysey, isn't he?

Think we can file this one under BUPA.

He’s no better than what we have currently.

We need quality this window not quantity.
Sometimes you need quality depth, but I don't see him as a massive upgrade on the likes of Boly, Worrall and McKenna if we are saying Felipe and Niakhate are our two starters.

Bob McKinlay
He is an expert in a back 3 but I agree with others, I am not sure he even starts for us currently.

Massively underwhelming signing if it were to happen.

Any signing we make should be one who is going to be better than what we have and is going straight into the team. That makes the ones currently in there the subs and the current subs the ones who we sell on. Surely that's the only way we get better.

I don't see Coady adding anything to the squad that isn't already there.

Are we going to be linked with every single player that spent any time in the Liverpool Academy whilst Cooper was there?

Only if we are determined to have the slowest centre backs in the league. In that case Coady would be a great backup for Worrall and McKenna but migt as well stick with Cook.

He would actually be a slight upgrade on most of our centre backs, having actually played for England, but generally I agree that it's a bit underwhelming.

Meh. OK. Better than Scott? Probably. Better than Big Willy? Probably? Better than Felipe and Niakhate? nah. Better than Worrall?

Doesn't do anything for us.

If we are playing three at the back we need a better addition than this.

If we expect to play two at the back then Boly and Worrall are good enough back ups and I don't think he's a significant upgrade on either.

Hard pass for me.

Just shows you the different spheres we're now operating in, had a glance at the Sheff Utd forum and they're pretty happy at the idea of Coady playing for them. They also acknowledge that he'd want far too much in wages that they couldn't get near.

It's quite striking watching Coady how little defending he actually does. He doesn't win headers, make tackles/blocks/interceptions. He's essentially a specialist 'middle of the back 3' player, sweeps up & tries to pass it around. Unless we drastically change the way we play then I think he's a bad fit.

For me, if we're buying a CB it has to be one that's a level or two above someone that couldn't get a regular game at Everton.

Would be a typical blades signing. Cheap at £3M and is decent player.
Personally I wouldn’t rule him out depending on how we reshuffle our pack.

He's decent value for squad depth and the sort of CB Cooper would be looking at I should think.
We need 6 CB's in the 25 ?
Currently 4th,5th and 6 are Boly, McKenna, Biancone/Panzo/Kouyate. I can see Cooper thinking Coady improves that.

Agreed. For the prices quoted wouldn't be bad business as a back up if we don't have anyone in the academy that Cooper fancies.

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
I’m surprised at how many people don’t rate Boly enough to put him as one of our first choice CB’s??

Sauce salad?
The only issue with Boly is his recent injury record - he's a superb defender but one we probably can't expect a full season out of: According to transfermrkt he's missed 200 days of the last two seasons due to injury (two of which are hamstrings).
