Colin goes forth...

To Chesterfield?
Strange, especially seeing as he was 'going to Norwich' only a couple of weeks ago...

Well it rather depends if they plan on continuing their decline down the leagues, if so, I think they're in great hands with Shearer!

I think Calderwood deserves more credit from forest fans. Say what ever you like about team selection and tactics but the simple fact is the decline stopped under him and no one can argue we are in a better position now than when megson left.

We have a good young squad with some talented players and team spirit. That is in part down to Calderwood. Good luck to him.

Agreed, best of luck to him, he did us a massive favour!

To be honest, Newcastle would do well to keep hold of him. His shrewdness in the transfer market, and ability to pick up a diamond and spot youth talent could prove invaluable to a team looking to stave off bankruptcy.

Is it really that desperate?

Mixed reports.

My uncle reckons that if Shearer Doesn't stay, they'll hit the skids big time.

Bringing him in, and keeping him, will ensure that season tickets are sold, which in turn ramps up advertising revenues etc.

Their entire squad are set to leave. They need the players, but they can't afford them, so they now need to buy a new team.

There is always the option, though, of 'The Tottenham Fan', as my uncle refers to Ashley, putting money into the club. It's strange, they are one of the richest clubs around, but could still be in administration before the season starts.

Can they get rid of the whole squad though? Who is going to buy a player like Duff?

And does Alan Shearer still have his 'must be highest earner at the club' clause??

Duff has stated his desire to stay there. Loyalty, he called it.

Loyal to two years remaing on his contract, no chance of a Bosman so no chance of anyone else matching his £70k per week.

The only way they can shift Duff, and the others, is to take a hit on the market value and to keep paying a proportion of his wages, much like Leeds did.

So, Duff, currently on 70k, is sold to Liverpool (let's say) and has a market value of £3 million, but Liverpool are only willing to pay Duff 50k a week on a two year contract. Newcastle would then have to pick up the remaining 20k per week for the remainder of Duff's contract, in effect turning a £3 million sale into only a £1 million sale. And this is assuming that someone wants to pay £3 million for Duff, and wants to pay him 50k per week!

I wouldn't pay him in washers never mind £70k a week!

He was never going to Norwich. That was just forum talk, he was never mentioned in the local press at all.

Ok!

His team selections were often negative, he had no idea about the concept of wingers, he was happy to stick James Perch just about anywhere, he once put Wes Morgan up front, he thought Luke Chambers was a right back, his tactics were shoddy at best, at worst they werre none existent, he had no ideas how to change a game and his ability with substitutions was worse than the LTLF 5-a-side team.

Why do they call him that?

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.

Possibly Joe. That's a good link, actually.

Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.
