Clueless person wants to take his kid to the West Ham match

Hello everyone, I am new here. If this isn't allowed please accept my apologies. I grew up in Notts and moved to the USA many years ago. I have passed on my love of Forest to my son and we are visiting his grandparents in February. I would love to take my son to the West Ham match while we are over there but my family are telling me to not even attempt to buy tickets and that it is almost impossible. Is this true? I would love to hear some other opinions before I buy the My Forest membership.

Thank you.

And yes without any form of home membership it will be nearly impossible for you to get tickets. Unless you know someone who has one and wont be going etc.. Then the chances of a ticket popping up is likely, but 2 together not so much. Wish you luck though!

Are you a member of the local Supporters Club branch? If so that'd be the easiest / most reliable route in.

If you look in the membership thread there seems there would be a good chance of you getting single tickets but the possibility of getting 2 together could be pretty slim

This is a good idea. i think supporters clubs get a lot more ticket allocation than most people realise.
Yep they still get loads.

Albeit if not already a member, then it's probably too late to join now in order to get tickets for this season.

Consider Hospitality as it seems a big trip for you and your son.

And you'll have to pay £60 for two memberships anyway, so Hospitality won't be hugely expensive comparatively.

Without a membership it will be pretty impossible to grab 2 together, singles do often pop up the day before though and on the rare occasion a double.
You could buy 2 memberships but even with that you could be wasting your money on a gamble. Best scenario with memberships is one similar to the Bournemouth game, where the lower BC released a block of tickets, this happened about a week before the game and even then it is down to chance that you are on the page at the right time. If you do go this route, make sure you link the accounts together so you can buy 2 tickets.
Sometimes away fans do not sell out and they open up the lower Bridgford for more Forest fans but this will 100% not happen with West Ham.
I think you might also need a My Forest membership for Hospitality, cheapest Hospitality ticket for West Ham is £222 per adult & £132 for U16.
You can also find some through third party vendors but I would not recommend this as there is the chance they might not be legit and they also go for as much as a hospitality ticket.

Forest tickets at the moment are hard to come by, especially if you want to go with +1. Good luck to whichever route you take!

As mentioned above, normal tickets will be almost impossible but hospitality (which are more) should be

I've think this is right initially but they go on general sale reasonably quickly and quite frequently

I haven't taken up the option, but most home games I get an email enticing me to part with the moolah!

Thank you everyone. I can afford the gamble on the My Forest membership so I will start there. Also, I will research into my local supporters club. Newark in case anyone cares. Fingers crossed this works out. We live in California and my son gets up as early as 4am on Saturdays for the TV coverage and it means a lot to me that he got behind Forest.

Best of luck with everything

I hope you and your son manage to get to the game

By local supporters club, I meant the one in North America rather than Newark. The idea being that the club makes tickets available via that route for when people are proper fans but based far enough away that it's not reasonable to expect them to use the membership schemes.

Albeit how the SC distribution works lacks transparency, seemingly gets abused, and so can be very contentious.

Also, roughing up/ robbing someone with tickets is an option. As you are American, you must have a gun, yes yes? If you can smuggle it through those machines at teh airport, that would greatly increase your chances of nefariously obtaining tickets.
