I read an article earlier about a Premier League player being admitted to rehab for addiction to balloon gas canisters. Saw a few online putting 2+2 together that it might be a forward of our with previous. I'm absolutely not saying it's the case as there have been many footballers caught doing it

Origi looks more like he’s swallowed a balloon.

That's probably more likely than the speculation I've seen. I think it's a younger player from somewhere as it was his parents that reported concerns to whichever club they're from

There's a few been caught with whippets

Can't recall who it was, and search algorithm is now biased with current news story, but about 3 or 4 months ago was a player caught doing balloons in a car somewhere.

Akpom probably wouldn't be much better than Origi, if at all.

I'm still glad we didn't sign him. He'd have made as much of an impact here as Andre Ayew except we'd have had to pay £15m for the privilege.

Jesus h f***ing Christ yes he would have.

He’s better than Ayew, he’s better than Origi and he’s better currently than the new Portuguese lad.

Exactly. Sometimes having a long memory is a bad thing. I watched him loads last season and he was very good which is probably why Ajax wanted him and probably why we wanted him.

Given the current circumstances I’d keep origi around as well - despite the evidence to date he might chip in with a critical goal.
We’ll have to. Someone has to take some of the load from Taiwo. The young kid can’t be expected to. Even if it is cameos from origi.

Is he though? 1 good season in his entire career. Seems a bit Martyn Waghorn to me IMO.

That’s his fault for choosing Derby.

Owd Wagdog was shit for a long time before Derby. He was never going to repeat that one amazing season he had at Ipswich.

I'm very wary about signing players off the back of one great season, especially if they are in their late 20s. I can't think of many examples of those kinds of signings working out over the years.

The point is we need money and spending £15mil on potentially a backup for a backup is more reckless spending.

Remember we paid £15mil for Wood and his contract expires at the end of this season so that fee is coming out of this season budget. 0 amortisation. Equivalent of buying a player for £60million on a 4 year deal. We have to start making do with the players we have. You know like every other team in the league.

This time around (we've been over Wood before I think) I agree, but my point on Akpom is that he'd have done a decent job rather than we should have spent 15m on him. In my head 8 would have been good, but think Ajax paid more than that so would never happen.

As for making do, the Dennis transfer, based only on record - appreciate he was dross under Cooper, is an odd one given we are short of a line leading forward.

Says a supporter of a club who face a points penalty for a potential £15m overspend....
how much in the summer would we have to spend if we spent 15 on deadline day to go over "the line" in the upcoming period?
