Carl [S]Jenkinson[/S] Jenkinsgone!

Re: Carl Jenkinson!

That's pretty much my feelings on Bong as well. Unlike some bomb squad players over the years, I don't think Bong is a leech who is just happy to sit around collecting his pay packet, he comes across as genuinely wanting to get involved so I don't have any ill feeling towards him really. Unfortunately he is just past his best and is not very good now, but I don't think its for lack of trying to be fair to him.

Still needs f***ing off asap though. He’s had over 2 million out of us

It would have to be the kind of league that still buys players based on reputations from 6 years ago. Great work Dane

Is Ross McCormack still there? I know he was but haven't looked.

Also, assuming Jenko has been vaxxed...

Agree. No ill feeling towards the bloke (unlike some other bomb squad members over the years), but it would be a nice boost to get him off the wage bill.

No, he was with Aldershot Town most recently, but I think they decided he wasn't good enough and let him go.

He seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet sometime in 2021. Probably got stuck behind his gates and starved to death.

From a Melbourne POV they'll probably think they can use his ex-Arsenal reputation as a means to sell more shirts and what not, which will offset any wages they pay him (suspect will be a fraction of his total wages, with us still covering the majority).

Re: Carl Jenkinson!

Well, I didn't see that coming!

Melbourne. They seek him out or we offer him in desperation? Questions need to be asked.

I'm sure he'll enjoy the weather and change of scene and the club here will be glad another odd shuffling ghost is gone.

Has he been vaccinated? We don't want the f***ers sending him back

lols.

Definite possibility the way things are down here at the moment.

I’ll have to wander down the road and watch him … he should be a reasonable player in the A-League…

Lots of their fans are happy in the replies on Twitter, they’ll soon find out why we’re all happy for his departure.

Yeah, Bong was just an incredibly bad signing due to his age and fitness. A real display of how bad we were operating back then, I doubt we were even considering things such as that never mind doing the due-diligence to check the players out first.

But he's tried at least. Which is more than can be said for some of the other signings.

Sorry if I'm missing something but I don't get the hate for him?

I mean he was a shit signing and rightly bomb squadded but I'm not aware of him refusing to train or anything? Happy to be proven wrong though.

But anyway good news he's gone and we can get some of his wages off our books.

I agree, Jenkinson did appear to give his all when he got a go. Whoever sanctioned the signing in the first place wants digging out.

The hate is because he’s dogshit and was (probably) on a lot of money.

It’s like you think I hate him as a person? I think most clearly only “hate” him as a player, rightfully so too.

£2m signing and an est. £20k a week on a three year contract means a transfer outlay of £5m before considering agent fees, bonuses etc.

And for that we got a player who was half-arsed when on the pitch, who would not follow tactical instructions (forever underlapping Lolley, not overlapping) to the point whereby he was so bad he was replaced almost immediately by an at the time central midfielder who wasn't guaranteed a starting berth under Lamouchi.

He has since sat on his lucrative three year contract and done f*** ALL, only moving now as his contract is about to expire and he's at the very real risk of retiring at 29 because he's so shit.

No, he's not Gonzalo-Jara-I'm-Literally-Going-to-run-away-from-the-ball-to-avoid-being-involved level of frustrating, but the mix of expensive/shit/can't be arsed/won't move is enough to place him at the very top of the list of "wankers" from the current squad.

People have spent the best part of a year laying into Ryan Yates who hasn't cost us as much, tries harder, is a better player and actually cares about the club, and here we've got folk saying poor old f***ing carl jenkinson is getting a hard time.

Where's the Lyle Taylor crying picture when you need it?

I seem to remember an odd line in a Hughton interview (about Bong being brought back into the fold), that he had spoken to all the 'Bomb Squad' and some of them didn't want to be involved?
I thought that dig might have been aimed at Jenkinson (and also Arter).

The money is for someone else to answer to, he was never going to justify those numbers, but its not for him to put his hand up & concede as much.

Always seemed to put it in when I saw him, to minimal effect granted, but there didnt appear to be anything Lansbury esque about his input. Laughable that Bong gets absolved, given some of his inexplicably bad performances could just as easily be construed as tactical ignorance. Which again would be harsh given we're not party to player/manager conversations.

I think the sooner this club places an emphasis on ability over passion, the sooner we'll get somewhere.

Ability without passion is just as likely to get you nowhere, as is passion without ability.
Carvalho has bags of ability, but no passion, and look what that has done for his career (and for Forest).
