Raymondo Ponte'

It's all about mid-table...
Collins out for three games if no appeal successful, who will McCleish throw the black band to? Will anybody want the bugger? I see no leadership even when Collins was there, we need a McKenna type.

Not ideal, but Reid for me if not out through injury? If not Sharp.

Far too many soft types in our squad, they dare not even appeal for decisions most of the time, nobody got any GRRRRRRR !

This is why we're probably going be linked to some experienced players in this transfer window.

Clark's promotion team had experience in Pearce and Phillips (player of the season), and Cooper was a leader.

Bassett's team had Cooper, Chettle, Stone, Woan and Gemmill who had been through it all before with Forest. And Beasant and Thomas came in.

After Collins, we've Reid. But he's the extra bit of class when he's on form rather than the man to lead when it's backs to the wall.

People make too big a deal about captains. If it takes an armband to make a person be commanding and control a situation, there's something wrong with them.

It's a massive cliche, but you should have 11 captains. Yes, some are invaribly louder than others, but i'm willing to bet people like Pearce et al wouldn't have been any different without the captaincy.

Now leaders and strong personalities in general is a different matter, we definitely lack a couple, but it means nothing who has the armband on.

Much as I love Sharp, I think the Captaincy would be a distraction to him.
I want him focusing on the finding the back of the net.
Whoever gets the armband has to be a fairly well bolted on start name in every line-up, and apart from Camp there are precious few who are almost certain of a place each week.
They also need to have a good understanding of the tactics and positional play and be able to get players to the team to maintain its shape.
And when someone is shirking they have to be able to get them gee-ed up again.
In short I can't think of a player who has these attributes in sufficient quantities...
Therefore a compromise captain is called for... how about Halford?
I'd pick him every week, but he sometimes needs to be gee-ed up and sometimes his positional sense is a bit lacking.
Camp doesn't merit the captaincy because of his attitude.

Guediora?

He's a bright and eloquent bloke, got a never say die attitude, international career, good reading of the game, and good relationship with the fans and identification with the club.

Question mark over his discipline, but the sort of guy who'd probably take new responsibility seriously and raise his game.

Just give it Camp. If not he'll have a mardy and let in some goals.
