Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

I’ve not seen anything to suggest Horvath is any better a keeper really.

In terms of stopping the shots they are on a par.

Brice is better with the ball at his feet and his distribution is superior.

Horvath is more of a level head, but as people have pointed out Brice's rambunctious personality is what makes him the keeper he is.

Samba will always be no.1 for me.

Nothing against Horvath who has done very well.

But you could see it in the defenders today, they played more passes back to Samba in the 1st half than they have to Horvath in all his matches.

Samba as a technical goalkeeper isn’t a top keeper, but as a footballer and as a sweeper, he fits this team much better than Horvath.

I don’t think it’s any coincidence that we were much more fluid today with him in goal. Samba is always there as an out ball.

Horvath did very well. As a pure shot stopper, I might pick him ahead of Samba. But for this team, Samba is no.1.

It's certainly a conundrum; it would be a bit harsh on Horvath for him to lose his place purely because of international duty rather than a poor performance

I don't remember to be honest. It was a bit like when he came out for it against Leicester and it went by him.

Worrall's backheader sold Samba short and he was caught in no mans land because of it. He still managed to slow their Yates down long enough for Toby to clear the danger. Nothing about that was Samba's fault; it was all due to Joe casually sending back a header with insufficient power while also lacking awareness of the opposition forward lurking to pick up on it.

I think that's the thing , He hasn't done anything wrong other than jetlag, I fully expect him to come back in on Wednesday.

I haven't seen a replay of it so you may well be right

A reminder today of how much more comfortable the back 3 are including the keeper as a sweeper when Brice is in there.

I'd still have Horvath back next match though.

Yeah Joe held his hand up afterwards. Knew he'd stitched Brice up with that one.

But like I said that was literally the only slightly poor moment from him.

Not really. Worrall headed it backwards and their forward read it. Would have been a risk from Samba diving at it. The guy went away from goal and Figuerido got back. Not sure how it’s poor from Samba.

This 100% as good as horvath has been the defence always had to second quess themselves looked totally natural and fluid at the back again and I think we need that for the final push.
Also thought samba kept his head well with that back header from worral previously I'd have bet on him clattering the striker

Yeah NorCal Trickie has pointed this out too. Like I said I only saw it once so might have got it wrong.

It was the wozza header incident. Samba did the right thing under the circumstances. He could have wiped the striker out if he came full tilt. He stayed on his feet but got close enough to make the block, it was actually good decision making on his part.

Edit. Sorry I hadn't got further down the thread to see the responses.

It's a difficult one because Horvath did not do a lot wrong, his kicking is pretty shit but I like his composure as a goalkeeper. Brice has moments of brilliance and is a natural with the ball at his feet but he's also a liability at times.
Horvath was likely quite tired and Steve feels the need to go with Samba.

It's hard now for Samba to lose his place again, given he took his chance.
Truth be told, I think Samba is the better keeper but it's rough on Horvath that he's out of the team in the circumstances.

100% Worrals fault, I was pretty much next to them as it happened.

Worral expected his little flick to have more momentum but it didn't, Samba came out and delayed it just enough for Figs to clear up.

Maybe Samba could have been a little further out his box expecting the pass, but that would be an extremely harsh view.

We are a far more complete team with Samba between the sticks. Blackpool are a decent side at home and Samba worked with the defence to build the platform for an emphatic win.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was coopers plan all along to give Hovarth the games until the international break

Samba is the better keeper and I think he’ll keep his place.

To be every time EH saves it, it’s a sigh of relief whereas samba seems much more comfortable

Worrall apologised after. Samba's damned if he comes for it (might not get it) and damned if he stays on his line (didn't close the space).

Big question is which keeper starts on Weds? Hovarth very unlucky to lose the shirt in the first place, seems a bit harsh he loses the shirt again because he was on international duty (which he didn't even play in!)

Samba keeps his place for me. I feel more confident with him in the side even if is is crazy sometimes.

It's harsh on Hovarth as he hasn't done anything wrong.

I think this is the perfect opportunity to get Brice back in the side without being too harsh on Hovarth and hopefully Brice has learned his lesson

I wanted Brice back in but do genuinely feel sorry for him losing his spot purely on his long journey.
