Best Forest XI since you supported them

Having followed The Reds since 1966 I’ve obviously got plenty of choice 😁
Anyway-here’s my choice (loosely on a 4-4-2 formation).

Peter Shilton
Viv Anderson
Stuart Pearce
Kenny Burns
Des Walker
Roy Keane
Neil Webb
Trevor Francis
Tony Woodcock
John Robertson
Ian Storey-Moore

Subs (5)-
Stan Collymore
Duncan McKenzie
Terry Hennessey
Steve Hodge
Hans van Breukelen

Notes-
1.Tony Woodcock has to be included as I felt he made Robbo more effective.
2.Ian Storey-Moore (my boyhood hero) narrowly edges out Stan Collymore (ISM would play as a central striker in this lineup-which he did to good effect at times).
3.Neil Webb is probably controversial but I thought he was a class act.
4.Hans van Breukelen sneaks in ahead of Peter Grummitt as goalkeeping sub.

Final note-There is probably no chance of any of us having the same eleven (except perhaps the goalkeeper and back 4) 😄

My first game was in 2004 (bad timing o_O) so going to be massively biased for this season!

4-3-1-2

Navas

Aurier
Felipe
Dawson
Lodi

Cohen
Ramsey
Danilo

MGW

Brennan
Antonio

Subs: Ollie Burke, Britt, Harewood, Shorey, Reid, Worrall, Henderson
Players i loved watching but weren't good enough for the team: Bennett, Earnshaw, McKenna, McKenna, Hildeberto, Abdoun, Carvalho

Mr Realistic
Started in Clark's first season and have decided against anyone only here for a short time (Terry, Ramsey etc). There's perhaps a tough of recency bias in there too.

Henderson

Cash
Felipe
Dawson (1st spell)
Pearce

Bohinen
Danilo
Gibbs-White

Johnson
Collymore
Reid

I say I started propely 1999 onwards so I have not seen many great times.

Navas

Brennan
Dawson
Felipe
Lodi

Danillo
G Williams
Jenas

Gibbs White
Johnson
Assombolonga

Taiwo will soon take over Assombolonga just need a bit more time. He didnt really play much last season. Antonio is also a special mention he was mint. Gareth Williams may be weird one but honestly he was one of the most talented centre mids I have seen at Forest. Injuries did for him in the end.

Just diverging a bit, since I started following the club we must have had some damn good players because we've won nearly a full house of trophies and cups.

From European cups through the FA and to various funny Simods and things, to the league championship, various promotions (leaving aside the relegations!) and sundry other minor trophies.

I think it’s great for people who started watching this century that they finally have something to
shout about.

I started around 86-87... and I find it really difficult to compare players from the late 80s and early 90s to the current crop because of how fitness standards, tactics and the influx of foreign stars has completely changed the game. I also struggle to include many of the current team, as they're still writing their legacies. I'm also using the current number of subs to cram more in!
But I think it looks something like this:-

Henderson
Cash
Pearce
Walker
M. Dawson
Keane
Bowyer
Stone
Robertson
Antonio
Collymore

Subs
Crossley
C. Cooper
Morgan
Hodge
Woan
N. Clough
B. Johnson
Gibbs-White
Birtles

Notes: Probably still missed a bunch!
Loads of players I would include having seen old footage of them were techincially 'before my time' - looking at Shilts, Viv, Big Kenny etc.

Chappers85

Can't Play Left-Back
1. Crossley

2. Cash 6. Felipe 4. Cooper 3. Pearce

7. Stone 17. Phillips 9. Bohinen

8. Gibbs-White

10. Collymore 22. Roy

Bench:
13. Samba
5. Dawson
12. Aurier
15. Cohen
16. Yates
11. Reid
18. Antonio
19. Van-Hooijdonk
20. Brennan Johnson

Tried to go for a no loans policy (so no Henderson/Navas, Spence etc). Honourable mentions for Woan, Chettle, Gemmill and Bart-Williams. I do just about remember Keane, Walker and Clough playing for us, but as my first proper season was 93/94 I can't justify putting them in. I also think the likes of Magala, Niakhate, Danilo may eventually work their way in, but just not seen enough of them yet. Also, no Jenas simply because he only had one proper season with us and that was in the Championship (similarly that's why I've preferred Cooper over Dawson in the XI, even though Dawson was probably better but didn't prove it at the top level in a red shirt). AND YES, I have given them squad numbers!

Kjetil Osvold's Cat

Kingsley Black
Since 1983/84, so I reckon something like this (naming 3 back-up choices for each slot too), though I'm not really sure on Anderson (just because he was right at the end of his Forest career), Van Breukelen (I remember Sutton much better of course), Metgod (I don't think centre back was his best position at Forest so it's probably a stretch in that respect), Roy (I feel like I should/would change the system to a Christmas Tree or 4-3-1-2 to get him more central/free if including him really), even Keane (personally I feel like Bohinen was the best Forest midfielder in this time, at peak level, and I could wonder about putting in Webb too but it does seem more 'balanced' with Keane, and Webb/Bohinen lacks pace somewhat too as a partnership even if Webby could use the slide tackle well I remember, just like Garry Parker, Nigel Clough and others!)

Goalie - Hans van Breukelen (Steve Sutton, then possibly Crossley and De Vries - could be being hasty here!)
Right Back - Viv Anderson (maybe Gary Charles, Brian Laws, Jim McInally but would seem harsh on Cash maybe)
Centre Back - Des Walker (Colin Cooper, Colin Foster, Terry Wilson)
Centre Back - Johnny Metgod (Michael Dawson, Steve Chettle, Darren Wassall)
Left Back - Stuart Pearce (Renan Lodi, Chris Cohen, Nicky Shorey)
Right Wing - Steve Stone (Gary Crosby, Franz Carr, arguably Brennan Johnson can go in now rather than Wigley or someone?)
Centre Midfield - Roy Keane (Neil Webb, Chris Bart-Williams, James Garner)
Centre Midfield - Lars Bohinen (Steve Hodge, Scot Gemmill, Jermaine Jenas)
Left Wing - Bryan Roy (Ian Woan, Kingsley Black, Garry Parker who is also a central midfield option)
Support Striker - Nigel Clough (Peter Davenport, Morgan Gibbs-White, Kevin Campbell)
Striker - Stan Collymore (Teddy Sheringham, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Nigel Jemson)

First season ticket in 05/06. Lining up in a 451... sure I've missed a few obvious contenders.

Samba

Aurier
Felipe
Niakhate
Shorey

Johnson
Yates
Reid (those 10 or so games he played under Pearce before injury were incredible, he added fitness to his technique and just oozed class)
Antonio

MGW

Awoniyi

I'll die on the hill that Reid was the best player in the Championship under Pearce before he got injured again. Also since around 06/07 and agree with most of this.
