I still think he’s young and fairly mobile, can play different roles up front. I was happy the money we got for him and I wouldn’t have wanted him back, but on loan to be back up I think he’d do ok. I guess we’ll see how he does at sheff utd. I guess it wouldn’t be a goer anyway as he will get game time at sheff utd and he wouldn’t be guaranteed that here. I guess game time is what he wants, especially at that level.

I'm in a similar camp - he'll do ok for them I think, and if you can stomach the likes of McBurney, they've put together a pretty mobile three with Brereton joining Archer, both of whom like to work channels.
Obviously with him joining a relegation rival I hope he does terribly, but I think some may have forgotten how effective he'd become in the champ after his slow start for Blackburn.

Yeah, this is a calculated punt within their financial confines. Wilder definitely has an eye on him potentially playing in the Champ next year, and what better way to suss him out than having half a year with him at a higher level?
Whether he can do anything at this level remains to be seen, but...considering FFP and the wages involved....I'd have taken him back here over Origi every day of the week.

I'd have taken Andre Silenzi over Origi. At least Silenzi score two goals during his short time at Forest.

Honestly, as bad as Silenzi was mate (and he was bad), I can always forgive him slightly as he was playing at the top level. The one which I think's gone under the radar is Nuno Da Costa.
I mean, the kid left us with a goal tally of -1
He looked awful in that pre-season friendly (I think it was against Crewe?) too.Both played a similar amount of games for us, both were signed for a similar amount, but Da Costa was worse lower down the leagues, and the fact that the only goal he ever scored for us was an own goal is just incredible

Da Costa came as a striker and played left wing for the majority of his games with us - new league and new position is tough for anyone.
As for Brereton I read there is no purchase option included as Villarreal have hopes for him - is that the case? Doubt he'll end up dropping into the champ again just yet...

Surprised no-one's mentioned this mercurial S American academy product today. I gather he's rather dividing opinion after today's game?
Apparently valued at £7M, has shown he can do it in the EPL. Physical enough to play as a 9, as well as from the left. But after today's display, would folks want him back? Just curious.

Not a chance Villarreal let him go for 7m. I'd have him back, as I would have in the winter window, last summer, and all the ones before that since he refound the net. There's a solid PL forward option there who can line lead and play left. Ab easy yes from me, and on Archer fwiw.
Strange celebration but I don’t begrudge players celebrating their goals no matter who the opposition. Guess work on my part but I wonder if we were ever offered him in January and turned him down, which would sort of explain his slightly wild celebration. He’s certainly a player I’d have on the bench, way better option than Origi.

I don't know their reasons for loaning him out and whether those reasons might mean they're willing to sell. But with the EPL tax, I suspect you're right either way. I think I agree on BBD. Haven't seen enough of Archer to have an opinion, tbh.

Given the financial state of things I imagine even if we wanted him we couldn't afford him.
Wonder what happens with the Portuguese kid should we stay up. Perhaps he'll be deemed ready to make an impact next year after six months or so with the squad.

The celebration was a bit daft of him, but I'd still take him next season despite that. He's shown he can do it in the Premier League in a dreadful Sheffield United side.

Pound shop Brennan is my take - not as clinical but the goals will come at this level, as they have at all the others he's played at. He'll be back at villa and then off somewhere...
