I think the young man deserves his own thread, what with MON scouting him out personally. I'd be very happy to see him in on loan.

I also like the thought of building a relationship with Man City while we are trying to get out of this league.

Half the fans aren't either, I must admit from Jan 2018 till Dec 2018 I wasn't happy with him at all, but the last half of last season he did improve but I still think we need better.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I was a big critic of Pants. He did improve as the season went on, but still think we could do better than him.

Personally think Pants is good enough at the basics to be one of the better keepers in the division, this lad is probably better with his distribution and with his feet though. If we are gonna look for competition a loanee makes sense, keep the budget for more important areas.

Pants did get better as last season went on, helped I'm sure by Seamus McDonagh coming in. You always had the feeling though that the defenders weren't sure if he'd come off his line to claim a ball. The modern keeper needs to be part sweeper too and good with his feet. This guy looks just the ticket to build a solid defensive foundation going forward.

For me this would be a perfect signing. No long term commitment or large financial outlay in a position that isn't really a priority (but can be improved).

Worst case scenario, he doesn't live up to his reputation and we have a perfectly able goalkeeper in Pantilimon to be the main man again.

Best case scenario, he is far better than Pantilimon and we will probably have the best keeper in the division and a very good backup.

Not really seeing any downsides to this one.

If he can pass it 80 yards to Murphy that will mean we don't have to replace Carvalho or Lolley. Or any midfielders for that matter.

Good. You have to build from the back. A successful team needs a top keeper. Hopefully this guy is decent. You'll get nowhere with Pantilimon. :naughty:

I like the idea of a loaned GK probably the best place to have a loan imo, and if he's good enough to challenge Pants then even better.

Not a bad signing if it happens, though I don't think adding another keeper is particularly a priority.

I doubt he's coming here unless he's going to be first choice (City will want some guarantees over playing time) and Pantilimon won't stick around to sit on the bench most of the season, so I'd expect the latter to be sold if this happens.

Yep. Sofia is a long old trip to make unless City had given some sort of prior nod. Looks like a younger version of Stojković, with that little glint of madness in his eyes. Hopefully a bit better than Vlad was too.
