West Ham have reportedly had a bid accepted now €35m + €5m in add ons. Think even if we matched it he'd go there; draw of London and European footy probably a bit stronger for a young European lad like him vs Lingard.

We all knew West Ham are a bunch of Onanists anyway.

Yeah we need a bit more in the bank before we can go for 35million on one player. They were top 6 last year so the fact we are fishing in the same pond is impressive!

As it currently stands based on our squad I think we're finishing somewhere between 14th and 20th. Margin for error is quite slim in that regard, relegation odds roughly 40%. Weakest area of the squad is central midfield so if there's budget available to try and reduce that relegation odds further then it makes sense to use it on a really good CM. £34m might be stretching it but I could see us going in for one up to £25-30m.

that would be my assumption too, 16th +/- 3 places - last season that was a 20 point spread!

It’s tight between the top 6/7 and the bottom 3. Leicester at one point were dropping like a stone then recovered to 8th without being anything special.

Could just be leaks to get his wages up but Everton can't pay anything up front and are also trying to bring Gueye back from psg.

Rumours of the Swiss lad probably mean this is not happening (which we knew anyway).

Favouring a move to an Everton side destined for a relegation scrap and managed by an absolute fraud. Ouch!

Fortunately for West Ham, Everton don't have a pot to piss in and have probably blown whatever funds they had on McNeil. Still, not great knowing that a key target isn't that keen on playing for your club, even if they get a deal over the line.

It's surprising that West Ham are struggling to attract players. Especially for Everton, who are a mess. I wonder why they keep getting turned down?

They are still light upfront but I think they will be okay. Lampard will do the bare minimum to keep his job, they won't sack him because it reflects badly on them
Surely they still need to score some goals? They're not going to draw every game 0-0 or 1-1.

Yeah I don't disagree they will struggle for goals. The only attacker they have brought in averages about 15 games for every goal.

All depends on how they start, if they start badly things will turn sour.

The "bare minimum" also includes being in a relegation scrap! I just don't think they will sack Lampard until relegation is seriously an issue.

People in the media moaning about Lingard but no one questioning how on earth Everton can afford this signing (given the financial mess they are in)?

Incredible signing for them. They’ve actually done some solid business in the last couple weeks with him and McNeil.

Not sure it will help them with Frank there, but gets them closer
A shame he's gone there as I have Everton down as a potential relegation rival. It is strange how some players don't want to go to a team like West Ham that is based in London and are competing in Europe.

Because people want to moan about Lingard, it's not really about Forest and let's face it most of the moaning is being driven by TalkSport which might as well be West Ham Radio.
