He was for the U21 as competition, not sure what is so random about it

I saw him warm up for the u21's and couldn't believe he had got as far as he had. Terrible.
I genuinely don't believe he was, given he's old enough to not qualify as a true U21 and only ever played in closed doors training games.
My view is that he was signed purely as an extra body at training - someone for the new strikers to fire past.

You can have an overage GK in the squad in the PL2 - and five overage outfield players
Even if you can - given that he didn't play a single minute, it's reasonable to assume he wasn't brought here for that.

Doesn't change the basic point though that he was here for training ground more than anything else.
