This is a question for people in the know at the Forest academy. How good is Konate? From the reports I have read he is the star of the under 21s. How far is he away from SC squad.

I think they were looking to loan him out this window?

Not only was it a thumping but takes us 3rd in the league & only 1 point off top for automatic promotion.

7 games left

Derby on the other hand going for the record of the worst Premier League 2 team in history.

Konate...close to being 22, but is he close to the first team? You'd hope he's be knocking on the door for next season right?

I doubt many if any of our current crop will end up representing the first team given we're now spending £20m on every player like it's confetti.

Reality is the u23s are the same players that were there last season, when they couldn't break into a Championship side.

One of the longer term goals of the club once we've established ourselves in the top flight is to seek out new ways to get quality into the u23s so that they can realistically supplement the first team.

Is there a bloke called Grant on the forum as on Twitter he knows loads about the academy etc? Really useful information.

Yes, it is the same chap - he is an absolute legend in terms of his knowledge of Forest‘s youth levels.

On the other hand, we might save loads of money from bringing on existing homegrown talent. Konate, Taylor and Fornah look like they could make it, and I'm sure there are other prospects.

I'm not sure we've seen anything of them to think they could be part of a mid table Premier League squad.

People are debating whether Championship stalwarts like Worrall and McKenna are good enough for us...

But players like Panzo and Harbottle are a lot younger. They still might go on to be better than the current CB pairing.

It would be easier to give the on-loan crop minutes in the first team if we were still battling for promotion from the Championship, but every decent PL side has a few youngsters on the fringes of the first team.

This season it makes sense to buy in established talent and send young stars out on loan, but even if we stay up there's an argument for keeping some of them around next season and giving them a chance. Not all at once, but here and there.

Panzo and Harbottle both 22 so not that young. Hope they have good careers but unlikely to be with us. Maybe Dale Taylor's got a chance?

Exactly. If for no other reason, then because a clear example that first team football is a feasible future for the Academy lads is necessary for maintaining the success of the Academy.

Wondering if anyone knows what's happening with B. Aguilera.

Has his loaned ended and he's returned to Forest as part of the u23s as expected?
Joined Estoril of the Portugese Premier division for the remainder of the season. Good loan for him that is.
