Cresswell is a weird one, not sure if he has the legs to be bombing up and down as a LWB these days so would he be LCB cover? He's not very tall at 5'7. Not sure I can make much sense of this one unless he's only coming in incase we switch to a 4 and he plays as a traditional LB.

Wanted him when he was at Ipswich, not so much now but would fill a gap and probably do a decent job until Richards recovered, which I assume would be the thinking here.

Hadn't considered that - Aurier and Cresswell in a four, Aina/Richards and Williams in a 5?

Offers something from a set piece too which might help.

Not sure about this in that he's a decent player no doubt and could have the effect like Dawson did moving to Wolves adding experience and solidity but...

His age is a factor and if we are relying on West Ham to sign a replacement too then we could be waiting an awfully long time for him to come!

I'd agree but for the Richards thing - I don't mind a short term option at left back, given Richards return, and that Aina and Williams can also play there.

In an ideal world that you g Brazilian kid would offer competition there though I think that's probably a pipe dream given the close control and passing required to play that role well these days.

So after 5 minutes of research

West Ham want 5m.
The player is on 50k per week.
Wolves only offered 2.5m and have dropped out the running due to their own FFP concern.

Decent player to be fair. Wants a move badly. Don’t mind either way personally.

Ha, I just read the same article - also cited that we were all set on Sessegnon until the injury. It was a Nixon based report though so...

Don’t mind as a short term option if the plan is to send Richards out on loan. I really want us to invest in the spine of the team, GK,CB,DCM. Then another goal scorer.

Aina would cover the centre with Cresswell at LB and Aurier RB with either Boly, McKenna, Worrall, Felipe, Niakhate, whoever isn't broken?

Not that I think this is a good move but he is PL experienced, which we know counts for a lot, but at his age we won't get much for him when he moves on.
