2022-23 Squad Numbers

Phillips as an international probably demanded wearing 7, so Stone as a youth player had to wear 6. Also, I'm not certain I'm remembering this right so could be wrong (I was 8-9 years old that season), but I think Phillips may have started on the right and Stone in the middle for the first couple of games before switching.

In hindsight it seems so bizarre. Stoney was a natural right winger and Phillips a central midfielder all day long (not sure where he played for Wales) yet nobody noticed until a few games in!

Stoney definitely started as a central midfielder. And Philips was a tremendous crosser of a ball and had played in wide positions, both midfield and defence for most of his career. So it did make sense at the time. Their positions changed early in Frank Clark's reign here.

I have added notes in italic to the original post, for players not eligible for the Premier League, due to not being registered in the squad of 25.

Updated following a glimpse of Serge wearing 24 in his interview.

As 24 was previously allocated to Panzo, I have moved him to the unallocated group.

As we're now into Sky-Sports Transfer Window 24-hour jizz-fest, I thought I'd better dust the cobwebs off this thread.

Removed Arter (I believe his contract has now expired?) and Badé. Added in Scarpa and Kanuric.

Apologies for the lack of updates, I wasn't really on-line very long over the weekend, here's a raft of changes to bring the OP up to date.

Alex Mighten no longer loaned out.
Added Danilo (28)
Dale Taylor now loaned out (Burton)
Adnan Kanurić moved from unassigned (37)
Added Chris Wood (39)
George Shelvey moved to unassigned (was 39)
Updated Josh Bowler's loan from Olympiakos to Blackpool
Lewis Salmon now loaned out (Telford)

Couple of questions for anyone who knows - is Brandon Aguilera still on loan at Guanacasteca? It was originally reported as a six month loan, so is he back with us?
Similarly, is Nicky Hogarth still on loan at Falkirk?

Hogarth came back at the start of the month - apparently we wanted them to start contributing towards his wages if he was to stay the rest of the season and they don't have the money.

Cheers Bud, I have updated the original post.

Tough to say with Aguilera.

The Costa Rican league finished in November, new one started in January, so he could continue playing there, come back here in summer and be loaned out to another club, and then loaned to a different club in Jan 2024 - and wouldn't break two club rule.

Equally the club he's at aren't particularly good, nor is the league especially competitive. Ideally he'd go to the MLS now and then return to us in Summer, probably for another loan. That's assuming limited interest from other clubs in England wanting to loan him right now.

My ITK sources reckon that, in an almost bingo-caller fashion it’s…
Number 42 - Andre Ayew.
(Previously Konaté’s no.)

Also moved the younger Shelvey out of the unallocated group after he sported 43 on the bench last night.
(Last Forest keeper to wear that number was Jordan Smith, back in 2018)

Todays squad list confirms that Navas has taken 12, which was previously Jordan Smith
And Felipe is 38, previously worn by Fornah.
