Conspiracy theories are usually 95% bollocks, but sometimes some of that 5% hold up, and I wouldn't rule it out this year tbh. It's very plausible that the league didn't want us to do well on the back of "cheating", and feared Marinakis ambition genuinely breaking the top 6 if it carried on, so better to curb it now.
My favourite one that was doing the rounds on social media, was that we were getting the rough end of the refereeing decisions because we sacked Cooper and his old man used his contacts to have referees start giving whatever they could against us.
(Obviously this one ignores all the shitty decisions we got when Cooper was still in charge).

If they didn’t want us to appeal they should’ve offered us a sweetener like another point off if we don’t appeal. They didn’t so we appeal it for not considering some of the unique factors. They don’t have any grounds to increase it, they’ve already hit us with the 3 points charge plus 3 points for a significant breach (which I’d argue it isn’t).

That is a cracker. That is right up there at „David Icke“ levels of stupidity.

I love David Icke and I totally agree alot of what he says is complete lunacy but there is also quite alot of what he has said that has come completely true but what interests me most about him is the way he tells the story's because there is no doubt whatsoever he completely believes what he says and I find that fascinating great bedtime listening but I love conspiracy theories if I believe most of them is a totally different matter

They did offer a sweetener.
The EPL wanted an 8-point deduction.
The commission said 4-points.
Given the fact Forest agreed they had breached the rules there had to be some penalty.
A halving of the EPL requested could only be sweetened if the commission had served free toast with honey on it.
The appeal is unlikely to achieve a further concession.
I think Marinakis wants to take the whole FFP/Anti-competitiveness/Inequity/ argument to the High courts.
However, I can't see that a High Court action will be successful seeing as the EPL is a special sort of organisation and each club signs up to abide by its rules and regulations.
The only defence against that seems to be that a promoted club is obliged to either sign the Articles, or be refused admittance.

Not a dig at you in particular, but I keep seeing this “well all the teams sign up to the rules so it’s their own fault” kind of argument, like teams have any meaningful choice in the matter. Like If EM had said in July 2022 “hang on a minute, these rules are shite! I’m not signing up to them.” would that have been met with anything other than complete bemusement?

Add to that, you can't even attempt to make changes to the rules, unless you're a member - so have had to sign up to whatever the rules were at the point you were eligible to sign up for them.

I’m glad we’ve appealed even if all what comes from it us sticking two fingers up at the PL.

They pick and chose when to enforce the supposed rules so I’m glad we’re telling them it’s all bollocks.

They’ll probably make a new rule in summer what says teams from the midlands can only buy someone once they’ve sold all of their best players on the cheap to a London team.

We can present new supporting evidence
So if we can illustrate that others Fulham/Bmuff for example have not been penalised to the same extent as us for coved & promotion bonus’s etc that would have to be considered
This is the key point for me. There's actually very little in the panel report that makes me think we're due any points back.

BUT.... if other teams have been treated differently over recent years and approaches taken with us are inconsistent with how other teams have been assessed, then I want us to got for the throat.

There is a real lack of transparency around this. We only see the analysis of the clubs deemed to breach, but surely there should be sight of the assessment made of clubs deemed to pass the PSR tests?

I can't believe anyone would want us to just take our punishment if there was a chance that others had been let off.

Fully agree - there is a plan in place here.
I originally didn't think we would appeal and just go straight for the the throat (court) - but you are right, this is the next step in the dance and when we eventually take the nuclear option we will be able to demonstrate we have tried all available options but have been left with no choice.

Agreed. Often, in litigation, the other side makes process mistakes which can assist a case. Giving them opportunity to do so, is a wise move

... and I think we should fight this bollocks until the end. I'd rather we stood against injustice and lost than just rolled over and accepted it. I'm all for doing everything we can to show how anti-competitive a 'competition' the English Premier League is. Somebody has to take a stand and I'll be proud if it is us.
Agree with this. Forest along with EM have sent a clear message yesterday. The EPL needs wholesale changes and Forest can keep the EPL where it belongs, in the headlines. I’m bored of statements from the EPL, there’s nothing of credibility left from them.

What clubs want is a level playing field on and off the pitch. The EPL is unable to do that

That would be a tragic loss; the culture, the food, the women…

Why not pick on someone else? I mean, as an American, I am sure there is a Latin-American republic struggling its way to democracy that you could pick on first!

(joke, obvs; we all know it would be North Korea….)

I fear this appeal will destroy any good will Forest have achieved during their brief spell in the top flight. They should have accepted the 4 points and moved on
Agreed, we should have took it and moved on, leave the victim mentality to Everton.

Is there also the possibility of litigation from other clubs? E.g. if the appeal succeeds in reducing the penalty by one point, and that point ensures we stay up instead of Luton who would go batshit mental culminating in a cavalry charge of KCs?

Link below to Percy's article in today's Telegraph in which he states:

"there is a possibility that another independent commission would have regarded the four-point deduction as too lenient"

Seems to be saying that we got off lightly?

It's a horrible position to be in ... but I don't think they had much choice. The feeling of 'if only' if we get relegated on goal difference or by a single point is something that would be hard to live with.
And them taking away two points and failing to stay up by 1 or two points or on goal difference wouldn't be a "what if" moment. I would have left it as it was and have the players fight knowing what they have to do to stay up.

'There is a possibility' is merely a statement of fact, and that he's not called it a 'distant' or a 'strong' possibility means he's not really expressing an opinion on whether it's likely or not.

I think I'd be able to accept it, as long as France did the mutually assured destruction thing and wiped out the American Deep South.
Well, France does have a nuclear capable arsenal, of course.

However, I am not sure I would swap the culture, food, and women, of the American south for those of France. But then, maybe that is unconscious bias on my part, having lived in France for a bit, and my limited knowledge of the southern states as being something like a theme-park populated by lunatics.

I'm not fully endorsing it - just saying that if something good has to go, we can redress the balance a little by getting rid of something awful. Then it won't have been in vain.

Yes, yes, I see your point. And the added benefits of doing civilisation a favour by getting rid of mutant hell-holes like Florida and Texas, everyone benefits!
