Orel Johnson Mangala

I don’t understand why Mangala has been out of nuno’s plans to be honest, but he clearly is. I quite like Mangala but he’s not one I’d lose sleep over selling, especially if we did manage to get around £20m for.

Mango chutney gets no goals or hardly any assists. Full stop.
Same as Yates on the goal front, Yates has to start fukin scoring. HE HAS TO.

What is coaching and training? What is it FFS? If you've not the "natural" ability then you can get coached to do better, that's why these coach/manage fukkas get paid millions right?? Why has nobody coached Yates to score?

I think there's a massive black hole in this 'coaching malarkey'.
Mango chutney! 🤣

Mangala has been consistently solid all season and man of the match in quite a few of the early games im pretty gutted to be honest
I was gutted when Collymore left, when Bohinen went for f*** all. I can’t say I’d be gutted if Mangala left. He’s decent but we have plenty in midfield and the new manager doesn’t seem to be arsed.

Erm ok but that's you not me personally I would be I like his positivity his commitment and what he's been doing on the pitch this year I've seen more off him than I have sangare so far

If we paid £12.7m and we can sell for any more than that then it seems like a good plan to me. Maxi’s post above is exactly what will be considered financially but fundamentally it’ll be a football related decision and he hasn’t really taken a grip on any match I’ve seen him play so it’s a tough, but correct decision to part ways.

Yeah he’s ok. Just wouldn’t be gutted either way but especially as the manager doesn’t seem to want him in there.

I do think sangare will turn out to be a good player but we are never gonna get rid of a player we have just spent £30m on.

The ducks maybe being lined up here for various scenarios but suspect nothing major happens before Jan 14th.
You're probably right. It's going to be difficult to attract any decent players to the club if we are to get a points deduction, so selling someone like Mangala wouldn't make sense in that scenario as our chances of adequately replacing him would be extremely low.

Until we know what's happening with FFP, I can't see any significant transfers in or out of the club.

I’d be disappointed to see him go - I was hoping in a Nuno team we’d see him kick on after already improving at the start of this season.

Unless it’s for a solid bit of profit this seems like an odd decision - surely the club wouldn’t take a loss on him - Belgian international and PL experience.

It should be £20m at the starting point but as mentioned by others I can’t see Italian clubs paying that. It will probably be a crappy undisclosed transfer and we’ll have sold at about £8m to break even after amortisation.

I agree on sangare and I also think he will turn out ok anyway the club will do what it will do either way I've enjoyed having here

Just to add - German football websites report our initial deal as including add ons and a sell on clause.

I’d imagine the add ons payable might have been us staying up which means Mangala likely cost us £15m-ish plus plus we’ll have to give VFB 10% of any future fee.

We can’t sell at a loss as that’s even worse for FFP - the fee will have to be £20m+

The football club is fundamentally a business and they've bought a player for £12.7m.

Financially, you want to recoup that or make a profit.

So, if the current manager doesn't fancy this player, do you sit on it for 6 months and watch his career peter out as he's in and out of the team, and watch his value deteriorate?

It's a dilemma. Do you truly believe in the manager? Do you go against him and say I really believe in the player and give him a chance? There's a lot of questions and answers.

Weren’t we after the Juventus LW (Illing-Junior) not so long back? Could be a part-exchange.

Both him and Szczesny out of contract in 2025. No way I could see them shifting their starting goalkeeper in January though.
the pol is still their starter? God damn it feels like he's been in the game forever.

I'm not against losing Mangala, but we need to make a decent profit, for us as a club we need to buy low and sell high so we can improve and go up the table.

If we make a net 0 or a loss then it will harm us long term.

We spent enough money the last 3 windows to cover us in midfield, and we do have enough cover once the Afcon players return. Just need to get £20m+ for him.
