Horvarth to blame for all 5 goals??
2 Were penalties so it would be harsh to blame him for them.

2 were low crosses that could have been dealt with better imho and one was a free kick that he had a 1 man wall for, got two hands to it but it went in anyway.

Also made a good save but rescued from his own weird pass out of defense being garbage.

3/5 should have done better really.

A Championship starter as has been seen and an adequate Prem backup but we need to bring in better.

No.
No blame for the 2 penalties.
No blame for the open play goal.
He should have saved the free kick.
And for that one and the goal from the corner he failed to exercise authority over organising his defence.
And that lack of organising/demonstration of authority was his biggest failing.

Horvath is clearly well short of being PL quality, but notwithstanding that he has to be ahead of Shelvey if a new 'keeper isn't signed before the season begins or even if the Henderson deal is sorted by then, as he won't be fit for selection.

There's no way Steve would go with Shelvey at the Emirates.

I like Horvath and think he's much better than he's given credit for. Obviously that was a shit goal to concede but a mistake is exactly that - a mistake. 99 times out of a 100 he keeps that one out.

Clearly he's not on the same level as Henderson and Navas and, like everyone else, I would feel uneasy going into next season weaker in a key area. However, a mistake is rarely indicative of a goalkeeper's actual ability and I do worry that, if we do go into the season with Horvath in goal, a significant portion of the fanbase are going to be waiting for (perhaps even willing) a mistake to come.

It's far too easy to scapegoat and it will only ever work to our detriment.

Yes it's a mistake.

And he makes a lot of them.

I guess we were pretty cack under Hughton in general but especially the game he played and he cacked all over it then - which I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt over.

But since then when he's played for us he's not looked convincing and that was in the CH.

By all accounts he had a bit of a mare last night against an average Ligue 1 team and let in 5.

It's clear he has ability otherwise he wouldn't be in the squad of a PL team and been in 2 promotion winning squads from the CH, the 2nd as 1st choice through the season. Actually it does take a lot of ability to be a professional sports player in general, the top players are usually incredibly talented. But he's well down the pecking order for the US and pretty much aside from loan last season has been a back up through most of his playing career.

I don't think it's unfair to Ethan to say he isn't good enough to be starting games for us in the PL.

This 100%. Luton very quietly said they were going to go "in another direction" from the man who kept countless clean sheets last year in the championship. Why? Because they don't believe he'll do it in the PL and neither does anyone at Forest. Decent shot stopper, but look at his posture, look how he never dominates the area and by implication gives confidence to the defence. We look fragile when he's there and for a game or three that might just be OK. But for a season?
Sorry but no.

After having Samba, Henderson and Navas as our last 3 starting keepers, potentially starting this season with Horvath just seems a little underwhelming

If we don't sign a goalie this week Shelvey gets my nod ahead of Horvath.
To be honest, the young lad did pretty much nothing wrong yesterday, against a decent Eintracht Frankfurt side.
