Yeah as I said, mildly annoying, rather than a damning indictment of the move overall. We're not an established PL side yet. Priority is getting in quality to get to that status, how we get the quality in to achieve that is largely irrelevant. Reassess use of loan market in 12-24 months.
Interesting that they are so certain he’s starting, given he’s never played a game in Europe and is only 19. Wonder what guarantees, if any, were discussed with Chelsea
I think it's more that they will back his talent to earn starts - can't imagine anyone at this level gets a clause in that's anything other than a break in Jan if it's not working out.Interesting that they are so certain he’s starting, given he’s never played a game in Europe and is only 19. I was so sure we had an example from last year, like Bade or someone, but just checked and he would have been 22.I thought this was the case too but can't find any definitive answer either way.
As long as it's not the first piece in a deal to sell Brennan, I'm all for it.
More like hope than any guarantees I imagine. It's not like the EFL where you want to keep prem clubs sweet to keep getting loans. If we don't end up playing him much, he'll just get recalled in Jan and though Chelsea might be pissed, so what?Interesting that they are so certain he’s starting, given he’s never played a game in Europe and is only 19. Which is my other concern, I don't take anything Chelsea say or do and face value. What assumption are they making that he will definitely get more minutes here than he will at Chelsea?Interesting that they are so certain he’s starting, given he’s never played a game in Europe and is only 19. I think his mother may well have spent some “quality” time with R9 20 odd years ago.
I'm not saying the lad is shit or I think he is going to be shit. It is just the automatic assumption that is he an improvement on what we have already based on 34 appearance in the Brazilian second division and 6 in their top league. The only way we will find out is to be the proving ground for him.

I personally hope he is f***ing brilliant and pushes us on to that next level, making us a more attractive proposition to the Sangare's and Fofana's of this world next year. But I am not quite ready to pin my flag to the mast and declare he is already far better than what we already.
Why not? Our goal is to stay up each season - this helps achieve this. Our players train and play with better talent hence they develop quicker all being well.I’m genuinely not arsed about how good he is. We shouldn’t be developing the youngsters of other Premier League teams.
Exactly. I have no problem getting quality youngsters from top 6 sides and giving them a chance to shine. They could be the next “big” thing and we have a years benefit. Elite clubs realise we are good at developing young talent etc.Well the way Chelsea are hoovering up players it’s not the worst thing to have a decent relationship with them.
Well, if they keep buying players as they are, the chances of him actually getting game time at Chelsea in the near future are extremely slim to say the least, so if he plays well and wants to stay all may change yetI hope he is stunning for us, and refuses to return to Chelsea.
They say he's got to go back to them, and he goes on strike.
they cancel his contract.
We get him on a free!
Now if things do end up panning out like that then I'll be happy with that.I'm anticipating a dynamic new midfield by the end of the window with this kid, Danilo and, hopefully, Dominguez in from Bolognia to add to Mangala and Yatesy?
Also, it shouldn't be overlooked that a deal like this can bolster the budget for another centre-forward option.
