Notice how everything said has "appears to be", "seems to be" and "could be" before it, to mitigate the point before it's even been made. I think our issue here is just how reliant we were on our wing backs last season, particularly Spence. He took focus away from Brennan, he could sprint and dribble like a winger so was able to get us up the pitch so often. You can see why we're targeting pace on the left too.
There's a reason why wingbacks are seen as one of the most important roles in the modern system.
Lets allow the club to worry about the purse, they know better than we all.
