Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I kind of agree but the club seem to disagree.

I dunno why we wouldn't target a RWB & maybe play Neco Williams at LWB for a few games. For me we still need a backup RWB, if Neco gets injured we have no cover.

The guy from Man City seems to have gone quiet, wouldn't suprise me if he ends up as the final Prem loan.
I said the same yesterday about the man city lad - not sure if he's gone anywhere yet?

Depending on who you read it seems we are after an attacker on loan, though suspect the Gibbs White fall back would be a loan too; there's been talk of the other city kid and Bhenrama from West Ham. Think our loan spot will be filled late, unless the Dennis rumours are true...

Biancone is the only option for RWB cover, in an ideal world we sign genuine competition but I think as things stand that gets pushed down the priority list. Maybe something to reassess in Jan, hopefully Neco stays fit
He is not a wing back though, he's a CB or a RB. Wing backs so key to us, would be an oversight if we only have one RWB IMO.

But I do agree, it is not a big priority but for me would need to be done this window.

There is an article in The Sun this morning saying our transfer approach is scattergun and Cooper and Maranakis are basically working against each other. Says that we have bid for up to 30 players and left deals hanging, annoying lots of other clubs
A load of old nonsense basically. Non story.

That article actually came out the other night and it is a prime example of bullshit "journalism". Notice how everything said has "appears to be", "seems to be" and "could be" before it, to mitigate the point before it's even been made. It's that shit the SunSport twitter page deleted the link they put to it so it's had basically no publicity.

Apologies I only came across it this morning, but fully concur with everything you've said.

Not a natural fit of course and I wouldn't be overly confident if we had to rely on him as a wingback for any period of time, but I think as a last case scenario we could adapt to make it work similarly to Colback at LWB

Certainly won't complain if we do bring in some cover though, just not sure where the club has it on the list of priorities. Kabore would have been a good signing but it's unlikely that he'll be willing to come and play 2nd choice to Williams

We appear to be shaping up well going into the final stretch...

Keepers are sorted, centre halves look like there might be space for one, depending on how we see M'be Soh. Wing backs are light given Richards injury, so it's how happy we are to have Colback there as cover for now - I think we'll bring someone in. Williams needs a back up, unless we see Biancone as that, which I'm not sure we do.

Midfield currently is Yates and Mangala, O'Brien and hopefully Swiss man, with Colback and Cafu as senior squad members - eclect at least one of those tomove on, though they are good characters and flexible. Lingard needs competition, as does Johnson.

So for me it's still bring in a hard bastard for variation - the Palace guy is ideal for me in that he's also a CH. Cover for Williams, first choice LWB, flexible midfielder (MGW/Garner?), Flexible forward (Diembe/Dennis).

I make it four or five more then, three as minimum (ie we don't need Kouyahte or Williams cover).

I think our issue here is just how reliant we were on our wing backs last season, particularly Spence. He took focus away from Brennan, he could sprint and dribble like a winger so was able to get us up the pitch so often. You can see why we're targeting pace on the left too.

With no true wingers in our system it's absolutely crucial that the wing backs provide an outlet, I'm not sure Biancone would give us that although admittedly I'm going on the pretty small sample size I've seen.

There's a reason why wingbacks are seen as one of the most important roles in the modern system.

Talking of which my left field Williams back up is Sorba Thomas - think he has the attributes to do well there defensively, very good going forward and would further piss off Huddersfield fans. Think I'm right that he's played full back too.

So now we're getting MGW, Garner, Dennis and Frueler. All we need now is for Barca to be declared bankrupt due to dodgy accounting, EM buys the wreckage and trades us FDJ for Harry Arter. Job done.

I am on vacation by the sea so football is the least of my concerns (my thoughts are usually limited to which seaside tavern to sit down and enjoy my tsipouro after swimming for hours), but I think that you are now on the verge of overspending. Not all teams which spent most of the Premier money upfront managed to avoid relegation.

Anyway, back to my tsipouro, sorry to interrupt.

Lets allow the club to worry about the purse, they know better than we all.

Thessaly, on a mountainous village near the sea, and then in Skyros, an island in the central Aegean.

Have a lovely break GBG!

I’m planning on going to Greece next year for a family holiday (wife and two young kids) and looking for somewhere off the beaten track to rent a villa. Any recommendations?

This should possibly be in a PM but then others might also be interested

Neville got it right on the video I shared this morning. What option did Forest have when the other teams we're coming up with are building on squads that have already been in the Premier League and had parachute payments? When you take away the players who left on a free the team we came up with cost us about £10m if that (Samba, Mbe Soh, McKenna, Cook, Cafu, Lolley, Surridge are the only permanents that cost us money from that squad) the next highest is likely Bournemouth and any additions they made this summer were built on a base of a squad that cost somewhere around £120m, we just had/have no choice but to spend big.

G. Nev is an astute observer of top-flight English football, it has to be said.

He also said Jesse Lingard was coming for the money and his reputation has taken a hit.

There is still time for you to change your mind.

It depends on what you are looking for. Off the beaten track can mean anything from a little island south of Crete where you'd have nothing to do but swim half nude, to a glorious mountainous area in Epirus in western Greece. I suppose two young kids mean that you will not opt for such extremes. My suggestion would be to avoid the obvious tourist traps and choose an island or a region with enough diversity to offer you a number of different choices. Even in touristy places like Crete there are many places and activities off the beaten track.

We should continue this on another topic I suppose, preferably when I get back (internet here is really dodgy).

Indeed

So when loans (Zinckernagel, Garner, Davis, Lowe and Spence) expired, and those from the first team group left either on a free or were sold (Samba, Ioannou, Figs, Grabban, Silva, Bong) we were left with a very lightweight squad which wasn't going to do much.

Smith/Horvath (as it would be assumed we would have kept EH if not getting WH and DH), McKenna, Worrall, Cook, Mbe Soh, Colback, Cafu, Yates, Surridge, Mighten, Lolley, Taylor, Johnson would be the only first team players from last season who would still be here.

It was absolutely vital we got more quality in, and still is.
