Morgan Anthony Gibbs-White

£40m can buy you established top level talent. MGW is an exciting prospect and I wouldn't be surprised to see him fulfil his potential and double in value, but i'm not sure it's the right time for us to be taking the risk at that price

If we were on the back of a premier league survival season and had a core team developed we could perhaps afford to push the boat out but as things stand I think we're better off taking a step back

Would be ridiculous amounts of pressure on him to succeed with this kind of price tag

It depends what value you place on being Steve Cooper Ready.

So is ornstein saying Gibbs white is not signing a new contract with them? Think he wants the move to happen?

I'd like to think the fact we are being linked with alternatives shows we won't be budging any higher on the fee.

Wolves can take it or be left with a player who doesn't want to be there.

I can tell you now if he doesn't intend to sign a contract then he won't be at Wolves by the end of the window

They are buying time to get a replacement, they can't sell now - their squad is too thin. May need to wait another few weeks yet but do we want too?

If he won't discuss a new contract Wolves will blink first.
If he had 6 months left - definitely.. Even if it was a year left then most likely.

But with 2 years left, and him being expected to start tomorrow, I wouldn't be confident on that. There's still a lot of time left to try and change his mind - and even if they can't manage that they may feel that with a few months in the first team they'll get a better offer in January.

I don't get why him not signing a new contract is considered an issue with the two years he still has left to run on his current one.

I disagree slightly that the comparison should be "£40m gets you a guaranteed Premier League proven player"

Those £40m "proven" players, go to established clubs and demand more wages without relegation clauses etc

We need to consider this as a £30m player who aligns with where we are as a club. If we succeed, he becomes a £40m player, but he's paid for himself at that point.

It's like saying we'd be better to go after CRon as he was only £14m.

It increases his value and assumes he's wanting to stay.

Him not signing suggests he's not fully committed to Wolves.

Somewhere between these two positions is the chink that Dane is currently crowbarring.

Tails just said in an Atheltic talk-in that the general feeling around the club is this can happen.

Doesn't say explicitly that he'd heard that MGW is amenable to the move but suggests it's thought to be part of the picture.

MGW is a big on SC's wish list, and while Ornestein's piece say's the £25m is the final offer, it might not be.

I'd say Wolves are taking the piss out of us. That or Brennan is now worth in excess of £30m too. And £15m for Davis isn't unreasonable in this parallel universe.

Clubs in England know Marinakis has money. The fees we're expected to pay become much higher because of it.
