Brice Lauriche Samba - „Magic Hands“

I don't really think fairness comes into contract negotiations to be honest.

Regardless of the level of the offer, that was the offer made and Samba decided to reject it.

As before, I'd say the best move is for the club to make no comment and allow the Henderson story to develop (assuming it's true of course). I think Samba would be a decent PL keeper and is a clearly a less costly option than Henderson, so maybe we launch our new kit/merch this week, then make him a one-time-take-it-or-leave it offer with improved terms, on the understanding it's all kept confidential this time and that there's a big "I always wanted to stay here and love the club and the fans" piece for the media.

Could both be true? I've heard "the same terms" used and would there have been a mechanism for a wage increase if we got promoted? If so he could be on double his wage, the same terms and be unhappy.

Yes same terms doesn't make any sense. Not sure how much he was on but if in the region of around 10 per wk, then might feel aggrieved at even 20k considering the role he played last year.

I highly doubt the club are daft enough to offer him the same terms, even if we were still in the Championship. Doesn't take a genius or a crystal ball to predict that he wouldn't accept such an offer.

The story about our contract offer being double his current salary feels far more plausible.

Can the whole world just ignore Nixon, the bloke has no shame at all.

He doesn't even care that he completely makes up stuff.

6.5k according to this so if correct, I would find 13k unacceptable after being a key member in the team and almost single handedly getting the team through the play off semi final.
He was probably on much more than that.

But saying that, nobody really knows what's happened or how much we actually offered him. I doubt we ever will.

It is hard to judge, but it does feel like Samba wants away which is a real shame. If you wanted to stay you just would have gone back round the table. And it was very early when this came out.

The whole Derby/Stretford saga really should have been the final nail in the coffin for his credibility. The fact that people are still listening to his bullshit blows my mind.

I enjoy reading his stuff, not because it's true, reliable or anything like that, purely for the laughs 😂

I don't pay for his patreon though, I'm not that sad. 😂😂😂

For anyone who doesn’t speak French:

When signing at #Nottingham, Samba simply negotiated a clause to increase his salary in the event of a move up to PL

No increase was offered to him

Henderson's salary is three times higher than Samba's

let’s say the club offered him 15 grand a week, that doesn’t mean that was our only offer, that’s how negotiations work your not going to start off by offering the absolute maximum you would pay someone as you’d have nowhere else to go if rejected.

This whole saga is stupid.

Would loved to have had Samba between the sticks in the Prem😕 He would have milked the limelight.

Something not right about offering him a new wage on same money and then chasing a goalkeeper who is on close to 100k a week.

A very forest way to start the transfer window.

He'll always be a legend to me for helping to end our 23 year exile from the top flight, but it is a shame that it is ending like this.

Hopefully we can get the Henderson deal over the line in the next few days and allow Brice a move to somewhere that makes him happy.

Regardless of whether or not we're in the wrong or he is, I can't see it being repairable now which is unfortunate given that Samba has been more often than not, a good goalkeeper for us? He'd do alright in the Premierleague and if he didn't leave, it would be money we could spend elsewhere.

That said though, Henderson is a few steps up and taking the sentimentality out of it, you'd rather have Henderson than Samba in your goal for this season I feel.
