How many games do we reckon this lad will play before being in the bomb squad? I’m guessing under 5 all off the bench in a like for like change.

Re: Xande Silva

I've never seen the lad play, can't recall seeing any highlights of him either, but just wait until you see these..... *ahem*....."highlights".

Gotta be up there as one of the worst 'highlights' package ever produced. Looking forward to catching some of his shots in Trent Upper.

After the disappointment of him not being Josh Maja, let’s just hope he can bring some pace and direct running to the side, because if he can do that he will be a valuable sub to bring on for the last 15min of games.

Assuming the Stats on Wikipedia are at least directionally correct - 9 Goals in 117 career club appearances.

Sounds like a like-for-like replacement for the other Da Costa then. At least this one is younger.

A more impressive strike rate of 19 in 65 across every Portugese national level from U15 to U20, FWIW.

Who is going to score the goals to get us off the bottom of the table? I wish him well, but I just can't see it being this lad, he might as well have a big flashing neon sign on the top of his head saying 'last minute panic buy' after other more credible options had fallen through again.

Who’s the Peterborough dude who SSN have in on deadline day? Anyway, he was talking about West Ham last night. Said P’Boro had a loan go through late, from West Ham, that was agreed 6 weeks ago. West Ham wouldn’t release until signing were in place their end. And that was for another Championship loan, so perhaps not a panic buy?

It was Darragh Macanthony, who is the owner of Peterborough.

If the malcontents have decided he's a "panic buy", then he is one, irrespective of any other sensible reasoning you may put forward mate. They will also decide he's on massive wages.

That would have been Anthony Coventry (the player). West Ham signed another midfielder (Kral) yesterday, which meant they could let Coventry go to Posh on loan.

They did also sign another winger yesterday (Vlasic) so you might be right with Silva, but it still feels like a last minute fallback option to me.

Considering the lad was reportedly packing his bags to rejoin Aris yesterday I'd say it was a bit last minute.

Only just watched his video, he's fast and direct definitely got that going for him and he seems to actually have good technique with the ball just needs to tailor his finishing a bit but at 24 can you really polish your game up much more? Maybe we could strap a set of horse blinkers on him so he can only see the goal, make it harder for him to narrowly put it wide.

To be fair, I don't think it matters who is starting up front with how the side is currently set up, it isn't conducive to scoring goals. Prior to Hughton's arrival Grabban had just bagged 20 goals and Taylor was scoring a goal every other game at Charlton.

Considering he is a portugese agent purchase and his poor stats wouldnt it more concerning if he wasnt a panic buy?

His poor stats which are appearances and goals? I am going to throw this one out there, but analytics is a lot more in depth than that. No doubt someone will get the advanced data to see if he fits the bill, but till we get that info, I will reserve judgement till I have seen him play and have a run of games in the side.

I dont want to be that guy again. I know our creativity was shite and it was but incredibly our finishing was worse. Just put into context, we have 80 more shots inside the area than Bristol City yet we scored 9 less overall.

For goals to Inside the box shots ratio we were third from bottom. We were 18th in the league for amount of shots in the area and every team below us bar Derby had better finishing rates inside the area.

It is a myth that is perpetuating that Grabban and Taylor and others performed to standard last season. There were constant stats last season showing Grabban as one of the poorest finishing rates in the Champ against other strikers.

Before you go on a tirade about creation I Have to say I agree wholeheartedly that we need to create more thats without question however if you look at the stats our finishing has been equally poor. Both need addressing

You never know for sure 100% unless they play for you. However you can be pessimistic based on how and where the transfer is from after past experience we have had. Thats counts for something because if it dosent than for example if I suddenly started picking the transfers considering I have no experience in footy you cant be allowed top be pessimistic until you have seen the signings play which is absurd.

I am not trying to convince you I am just bemoaning we are shopping at the same place again when its been so unfruitful for us. If this guy is awesome and and my pessimism's were not needed than I will be extremely happy because its not about narratives or being right for me, I just want the best for the club.

I see the lad essentially as back-up to Johnson and Mighten. If he looks like he can offer a decent challenge as a centre-forward, great.

It's Baggio

John Robertson
From what I can gather, he predominantly played as a striker for West Ham u23's and had a decent record in the PL2 (10 goals in 12 games). Had a slightly mixed spell at Aris where he was mostly played wide right/left.

Seems a bit of a punt & he wouldn't have been who I would have been targetting considering our attacking woes but at £200k & a 2 year deal, it's not gonna break the bank should he end up traning with Jenkinson.

training with Jenkinson.

Well initially the quote said "traning" with Jenkinson and that's a whole other thing - but I do like the phrase "training with Jenkinson" - we should use that as a euphemism for shit players

"So how is Silva settling in? Oh he's (tap the nose) training with Jenkinson...."
