I was just flicking through youtube and found highlights of Notts County vs Forest from July 2017, and was racking my brains for who these players in red were.

Got me thinking, from year 1 of the five year plan, who still plays for us from then? And how far have we come?

From the first team, looks like it's Smudge, Wozza, Yates, Mighten, plus Figs, Jack Colback and Lolleh (though they arrived during that season) and there are a few still just outside the team who would have been academy players then
In a squad that over this season featured the likes of Matty Fryatt, Michael Mancienne, Armand Traore, Zach Clough, Barrie McKay, Liam Bridcutt and Jason Cummings managed by Mark Warburton and then Aitor Karanka we managed to beat Newcastle and Arsenal.
We had just sold the previous top scorer and star striker Britt Assombalonga for 15 million to championship rivals Middlesbrough. The approach to signings seemed to be initally Warb's ideas and then later Karankas, and mostly rubbish with the odd exception such as Dowell, Lolley, Colback, Figs, maybe Tomlin and eventually Watson
Kieran Dowell was our top scorer (with 10) and Ben Osborn our player of the season. We finished 17th, 12 points off the relegation zone. We failed to beat Derby this season, losing 2-0 at the pride park and drawing at the city ground.
