When Football Changed Forever

Did anybody see this documentary on ITV? a lovely dollop of nostalgia. I may request that ITV change the name to when football changed for the worse. I really dislike Alan Sugar

David Dein seemed genuinely happy that the 72 football league clubs are on the brink of financial ruin, the English national team has become progressively worse and agents and TV executives now run the sport..

You're watching it for the nostalgia and these twats are popping up saying 'we did it...us...we're great'.

Can't believe Man United asked for the season to be extended and somebody said no. I'd forgotten things were so screwed up back then that Manchester United couldn't even dictate the structure of a competition.

I remember Fergie saying that Forest tried harder to beat them in the league than in the league cup final.. they had to play 4 games in 10 days; heaven forbid!

Football was better then

There were less celebrity owners. Every fan didnt have an opinion on how clubs as a business should be run, they were only interested in sport.

My favourite bit was when someone said something to the effect, "I can't believe that they all voted for it when three of them would be relegated at the end of the season." Now, which Nottingham team got caught in that trap.

We were both down by the following season.

Oldham Athletic were in that league too. What were they expecting to happen?

Yes we had the 'honour' of being relegated in the first season of the Premier League and the Championship. If there is a vote to change the name of a league that Forest are in in the future, I hope that they "Just Vote No."

As for all the teams in the top league at the time they saw the money, wanted it and believed that someone else would be relegated. Such a stupid move for many of the teams. Over half the teams that were in the top division in 1991-2 are not in the Prem at this time. 16 of them have been out of the top division for a least 1 season since it 91-2, and of course there were 22 teams in the top division in 1991-2 compared to the 20 now.

Finished bottom with 40 points that year.... won 10 drew 10..as football went crazy, Forest were sleeping. TV money, attendances boom... we missed out on the lot.

Ah well!

Football changed forever when the Amateur Football Association split failed to address what they called the 'corruption of the game' before the First World War.

Football has been rubbish since 1913.
